Description
Perhaps opting to wear flats wasn't the brightest idea, seeing since the weatherman had dubbed that day to be the hottest day on record since the last heatwave some 100 odd years prior. Her feet were stewing in a puddle of sweat, as she made her way down the street to her small floor level apartment. She could hear a sloshing sound with every step she took, and in her hands she carried a heavy bag of groceries, which furthered her discomfort since she felt the weight of it slowed her pace down significantly.

"So glad I don't need to take the stairs," she sighed with relief, standing in front of her door, and almost toppled over placing the bag on the floor while she rummaged through her purse for the keys. Finding them, she wasted no time opening the door and nearly dragged the groceries inside and just placed them on the floor next to the coffee table. "Finally, some relief from the heat."

The A/C kicked on, its automatic power feature had been set. She removed her shoes and immediately grimaced seeing tiny droplets of sweat drip from her soles, a few of them escaping and landing on the wooden floor below. The stench was worse, an aroma of stale vinegar and sour cheese crept into her nostrils and she kicked her footwear far off into a corner, fanning her nose quickly after.

"Wow, that is rank!" she said, slightly pinching her nose with her thumb and forefinger. It came as a surprise to her at first, only to remember that this particular pair of flats was the one that felt uncomfortable socks, so she opted to wear them barefoot. She stared at the grocery bag on the floor, titled her head slightly, and once realizing that there wasn't anything that needed immediate refrigeration, she looked down at her feet and wiggled her toes.

"I guess it's time for a bath then," she said. "These ten probably stink to high heaven!"
