Yes they all look very different when you really look at them. Scamp (cub) is very red, whereas her mother has a lot of grey in her fur, and they have very different faces

Its a pleasure! They certainly are!

It's such a shame these beautiful animals get bad press now and again

Thanks Katy, tried so hard for this shot for such a long time. Unfortunately it doesn't really work on Jack as she has much darker eyes and usually sits with them closed. But Scamp is very bright eyed and inquisitive.. so it had to be of her

I thought this was a painting at first, did you crop the original image or was this the original shot?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alannah-Hawker In reply to Lordfell [2013-11-22 00:28:27 +0000 UTC]

Ha, thanks Nope no cropping, pretty much all of my photos are uncropped actually. She's was just pretty close, didn't even have to fully zoom in for this actually, focal length recorded was 275mm

Lordfell In reply to Alannah-Hawker [2013-11-22 13:51:26 +0000 UTC]

Oh my! How did you get her so close?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alannah-Hawker In reply to Lordfell [2013-11-23 16:35:05 +0000 UTC]

I didn't - She got close to me
I've watched her since she first came out of her den, and the same with her mum, so they are both very used to me and my scent. They know i just sit there and take pictures so they don't mind me there, they know I wont hurt them

I bet they purposely pose for you

Alannah-Hawker In reply to Lordfell [2013-11-24 22:33:43 +0000 UTC]

It does seem like it sometimes! But sometimes it feels like they're not posing on purpose too! Haha

Amazing capture. Were you that close to him or did you use a zoom lens? Regardless, it is breathtaking!

Thanks! Yes it is using a zoom lens, but I was very close to her yes Her mother comes within touching distance sometimes - Though I would never touch her.

kuromeru-panthar In reply to Alannah-Hawker [2013-11-21 20:34:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I would, but I would probably get bit. I sometimes see Ocelots in back of my house, but I have never seen red foxes before. I'd love to see one up close in the wild someday.

Alannah-Hawker In reply to kuromeru-panthar [2013-11-22 00:25:43 +0000 UTC]

I would really advise you not to touch any wild animal. I would love to touch the foxes, but I never ever would. It would give them the wrong idea.. They would then think all humans are okay and could approach the wrong person and get hurt, and I'd never want to be the reason for that happening. They are wild animals and should be left as wild animals. It's amazing just watching their lives anyway, touching them is not needed

You are very very lucky to have wild ocelots in your garden, I would loveee that!!!

kuromeru-panthar In reply to Alannah-Hawker [2013-11-22 03:07:59 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you, but I would be tempted. Just because they remind me slightly of a dog. But I probably wouldn't. My grandfather told me that if an animal is wild and comes to you... It may be rabid. So, I always keep that in mind.

Ocelots used to be more plentiful here but some people trap them or shoot them. I don't just because I grow corn and other verduras and they keep the rats out. The more Ocelots that are there the less pests I have. They are more camera shy than your foxes and I only see them at night most times.

Hello Alannah,

Splendid photograph, the stare is so intense, the fox pierces the screen.

Congratulations.
