Wow, excellent! I actually prefer the look of the pre-Vietnam War look of this great airplane, so I like this even more.

Thanks !!
Me too, and with this livery, it looks like the Super Sabre (F-100).

Funny you should say that, when I first glanced at the thumbnail and before clicking on it, I thought it was an F-100! I have a friend who was a back seater on the F-105F Wild Weasel jet during the Vietnam War...he managed to survive over 100 very dangerous missions in it, but then went on to F-111's. Great stories he's told me, and great drawings!

The rear of the F-105 is very similar to the F-100, mostly when you look at the tail.
I'm sure that your friend has told you some interesting stories about the Vietnam War. I like to see 'Flight Of The Intruder', and 'Air America', two excellent movies about Vietnam War, and planes used by USAF, USN, and USMC.
The Aardvark hasn't got the success hoped by General Dynamics, unfortunately, but ,hopefully, the Royal Australian Air Force has bought some of them

The book "The Flight of the Intruder is about ten times better than the movie, which is often the case with movies and books. The F-111 had more success than many realize...the Air Force used them as attack aircraft for decades...my big sister used to maintain them...It was never ever a fighter, of course, and shouldn't have had the "F" designation. Grumman tried with the F-111B, and that just wasn't good enough for the Navy, but that experience helped with the follow on design, the F-14. Keep up the great work!

My sister went on to work for the RAND corporation Think Tank, then as the Deputy Sec of Defense for Clinton"s first term...retired now, but she had quite a career. The F-111 was always really an attack bomber, and used on the Libya Raid of 1986, where one was lost. That same friend I mentioned before was on that raid. The EF-111 was credited for shooting down a MiG during the first Gulf War! Did it my evading a MiG trying to shoot it down, and the MiG flew into the ground.
Thanks for your compliments!

RAND is a private "THINK TANK" that helps develop US Government foreign policy using very smart people. It is based here in Santa Monica (near me). They often advise the military, but only advise, not order or command.
I am currently working on a painting commission of a private airplane, and just finished, and now drying, a large oil of a Gemini-Titan rocket launch. That would took a long time to finish. I'll be posting it here soon.
The Soviets stole lots of things during the Cold War. Much cheaper and quicker to steal than develop on their own. Considering they were basically a third-world country with a first-world military and space program, it makes sense and one can hardly blame them for doing it.
