Weight- 19,000 Tons

Powers/Abilities
-Spongy Skin: The Nychus have an operational set of lungs to breathe the air, but they also draw air from the water. Their skin is very sponge-like and absorbs dissolved oxygen from the water as easily as gills do. The skin should very sensitive for this function, yet it isn’t. It’s as strong as any kaiju skin and flesh while still performing its secondary function.
-Sail-Dinosaur: The Nychus are very fast swimmers, being very agile underwater and outmatched in speed by any local competition. Their sails fold down so they may swim fast and chase down fish, and come up to act as a way to slow down. Very reliable water connections if anyone had them.

Weaknesses
-Long-Billed: The Nychus are what you call hyper-specialized kaiju. They have very long, thin and slender jaws with many tiny sharp teeth to snatch up small prey and kill it. This is also a problem as this long jaw is thin and brittle, prone to breaking if put under too much stress.

Personality
The Nychus are somewhat skittish saurian kaiju above all else, prone to flee at the presence of larger predators and competition unless otherwise. Due to their diet on the other hand, they tend to allow equal-sized kaiju to linger around their territories as they do not compete for food sources. Only when nests are threatened and significant members of a family will a Nychus become hostile and vicious. Otherwise, they are oddly friendly carnivores that get along with the Dromeosaur and Tarbosaur kaiju that share the Oasis.

Epoch: Present Day and Onward

History
Well after that whole fiasco, Tyrantis had lost track of Tyranta and once again found himself trailing after her all over again. It seemed to be a habit: Tyrantis would follow, find, and then lose her all over again in what seemed to be some cruel joke from the universe. If it wasn’t for that damn fight with all those damn raptors and that crazy flying monster… Great, now Tyrantis was blaiming the fact of battle which he adored so much.Frustration seethed through Tyrantis’s mind, but he kept a level head all the same.
But the idea of that other male succeeding before him also ate at his mind too. In fact it down right boiled his blood. Tyrantis always knew the feel of competing with another in a sense of valor. This was different, though. This was somehow more important than any other thing he fought for. He wondered if this was a onetime feeling that would come and go with gaining a mate or losing one.

But his mind would have to wander another time as he followed the rim of a massive clear lake. Tyranta’s scent trail was here… then again, it was somehow everywhere too. This one trail gave him a gut feeling however and he followed it all the same.
His path led along until he came across yet another nest site like before with those scrappy raptors. He didn’t exactly have time for another fight, so he gave the nests a wide detour. Yet, none of the owners of the nest came charging forward like crazed parents. At least not exceptionally.

Tyrantis looked on toward the parents of the nests and it reminded him of home. Their long snouts, their dusty blue color, their tight family group… Nychus as they were called were not so different from the Spinonyx back home. In fact they acted almost the same, except for a hierarchy of males and females. It was downright scary how close they allowed him to be, too.

The Nychus as it turned out were so focused on fish that they didn’t quarrel with most of the other predators in the oasis. There was virtually no reason for predators like Boomer and the Colosaraptors to come and get into fights. Neither boomer nor the raptors had a taste for fish, and eggs were always more trouble than they were worth in most cases.

It wasn’t much earlier that day that Boomer himself wandered by the Nychus nesting beach when he was on his way to investigate the change in the habitat, in that Tyrantis and Tyranta both ended up wandering in during that earthquake.
Tyranta herself also wandered by not too long ago, and ended up almost getting into a fight with a few of them. However she found them not a challenge and not worth eating either and she herself continued onward into the sands for her own curiosities sake.

The Nychus species would be known to wander out of the hollow after the earthquake opened it up to the world. They would not become very far spread though as other species and mainly remain in the hollow.

Important Dates
-January 5th 2034: Tyrantis and Tyranta discover the Mongolian Oasis, an Earth Hollow that is strangely similar to the one they used to live in. They meet a fellow tyrannosaurid kaiju, Boomer, and battle with the pterosaur monster Ahuul and the crocodile monster Sobekroc. Their actions also inspire the lake monster Metringar to leave the Hollow and lead to the colony of colosaraptors that inhabit the hollow to explore the outside world.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

One more for the Oasis, and one to go.
The Nychus transition to KAS I think went rather well. A lil better then Boomer did just because I managed to make them look almost entirely different from their in-canon counterparts, and at the same time different from the Spinonyx they were first inspired by so many years ago.

But I worry they look a tad too GASY... but down to it, that really don't matter. KAS is full of animalistic kaiju, and sometimes that works best.

So with that, enjoy. Await the last Mongolian Oasis entry.

The certainly don't look GAS-y to me. And there gigafauna, so it's more justifiable anyway. Regardless, I like the colors and that spongy skin would certainly be weird to feel.
