So I was watching the World Baseball Classic final a couple of months ago ~ Japan vs Korea ... I like good baseball and had no favorites, but I recognized a few of the Japanese players because they were also in MLB. But holy hell ~ that was one good game ... I think easily one of the most exciting games I've seen in some time ... the deep seeded rivalry of these two teams also added to the drama ...

I had Ichiro, with the game winning hit in my mind for weeks after the final was done. Finally I decided to start sketching something out. The samurai swords at his hip is more of a wink to the slogan used by the Japanese fans "Samurai Japan" which I'm not sure if it exactly means anything - maybe they just thought the idea of samurai was a concept the world can grasp ...
