i fail at BGs. i really just wanted this done.i started it weeks ago and never finished it... though i was 95% done. OTL
this is dmitri, an OC of mine, and the consort of roane. i'm not sure if i mentioned his name here, but i've been referring to roane as doll.
so, of course i had to make them a couple!
anyway, introducing dmitri. yes, those are scales (and portions of his hair are a matching color ^_^). he's a dragon. rawr. or... roar? or... shoot fire?

i went through like four versions of the scales before finally painting some that looked okay. OTL

yeah, it was a pain. i couldn't figure out what shape i wanted them to be. so i played with some scale brushes i DLed for photoshop for a template on how to draw them, and they weren't right... too snake like...
then some were too fish like...
others i drew were too big...
then i finally found a sculpture of a dragon and went... THAT'S IT!
thus ends the story of the scaes.

i'll probably change his clothes next time, though. i hate painting gold... i dunno what the hell i was thinking.
well, i do, but the end result was totally different. i should have changed the color when i figured out that what i wanted to do was gonna be different.
