Description So it's occured to me that some people think that people with mental illnesses can't be functional members of society. Some people use this to their advantage and claim to have these mental Illnesses so they don't have to do as much work.
Let me tell you why this is bullshit.

First let's talk about autism. Some people think autism effects you so deeply it becomes a gender kr somr bullshit like that. Well firstly autism is not THAT bad. Autism is a learning disability that causes someone to learn a bit slower. I have a friend who has autism and she's quite insightful. Her views are always far different from everyone else and she's very pleasant to talk to. She functions perfectly well. Occasionally she'll need a bit of help with things but doesn't everyone?

Secondly ADHD. Having to tap your foot or move your leg while sitting in class is not ADHD. I know a guy that actually has ADHD. In class his entire body is constantly in motion and he cannot sit still for the life of him. People who claim to hqve ADHD say they can't function in class. This guy from earlier has As and Bs and my brother with ADHD is a straight A student. Why? Became they don't let it get to them. They put in effort. They try hard. Stop using ADHD as an excuse to not do well.

Next is depression and anxiety. My boyfriend has depression and anxiety but he's getting better. He wants to get better. People who claim to have depression and anxiety and do not want to try to get better, i will not feel bad for when you have an anxiety attack or depressive episode. If you have depression and anxiety YOU HAVE TO TRY TO GET BETTER.

Amd lastly, I'm looking at all you 12 year olds claiming your parents are the reason you're "clinically insane" and or "bipolar". I actually have a friend with medical documents from actual doctors that's state he has clinical insanity and bipolar mania disorder.  However you guys don't have to act like crackheads to prove that. My friend is actually frighteningly calm. Yes, there are times he can get upset and flip his shit. Doesn't mean hes a crackhead 24-7. He doesn't run his face into walls and scream like a meth head. He's actually a civil, functioning, well mannered and educated person.

Now let it be known I understand that there are some mental illnesses that can be crippling. These are the ones that people will say they have most often. They are not crippling. Stop saying you have mental illnesses when you don't.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Autism can also make you socially awkward. I agree with you on the topic which people take mental illnesses as an excuse, and it's frankly sickening. My friend, Vlad, had to have weights attached to his shoes, because of his adhd. It's possible to push adhd back a little, but it's always present. I never knew this, until he told me. He told me to look at his feet, and they couldn't stop shaking. People who say things like "It's because I am mentally ill, and have adhd", make me angry.

I have genetic depression, and also anxiety. If your bf does too, I think your approach is OK. But I need medication for anxiety (when I have a panic attack), and I don't think it's a good idea to just let people feel how they do when they have a panic attack. Comfort is always needed, or the panic goes one for a while. Like, into the next morning for me. I loved your Ted talk, it was great. XD

Thank you. And yeah I get that genetic depression can get pretty bad and is basically out of control. Like I said to blahwhi, I'm mostly targeting all the kids who think it's okay to say they have these mental illnesses for attention and to have to do less work. I'm also quite sorry about youe depression and anxiety. If you'd ever like to talk about anything I'm open man

I usually talk to my therapist, but I always need someone for backup! Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on that.

Well, I agree that some people are using their mental illness as excuse. But on the other hand, there is a spectrum. Some might have mildest form of these illnesses, some struggle with extreme symptoms and others are somewhere between. People should always do their best, but sometimes it could be harmful to judge and/or ignore someone’s struggles based on someone who might not have experienced the worst of it. That’s at least how I see it.

I agree and i understand that. This is mostly directed at all those kids on the internet looking for attention and also trying to say "you can do things, you may be different but you can still do it!" I understand that in some cases it can be quite prohibiting but in most cases it's not and people use it as an excuse to either not try or as a claim for attention and sympathy. Very good of you for standing up for what you believe and i agree. 👍

Oh, okay. 🙂 I don’t have any personal experience about these “kids on the internet”, so I can’t state my opinion on the matter. Thank you for explaining.
