Description
This is a one sentence story for school project! (It's the sentence i mentioned before, "i haven't seen a kite in a couple of years, but i assume they still exist")I don't know if my message is coming across enough, the paper's marked on how well you can convey the metaphorical meaning of your chosen sentence through visual elements.
so...~ ^_^ be my guinea pigs and tell me what you think the mesage is, or just any comments or critiques on the visual in general.
the painting's kinda rough, but i hope that comes across as something stylized rather than just me being lazy. ^,^; oh god, epic fail at drawing people and feet...=w=;; i'm glad the uni doesn't care too much about craft level
again, sorry no anime/manga arts yet, i'll upload something in the holidays, which is coming in two weeeeeeeeekS!!!! YAAAAAAAAY~~~~~
ooooh one more thing, anyone got ideas for the title of this story? ('kite" was just a random title i came up on the spot)
ooooooooooh, and i saw my teacher going on DA today. scary. XO AND she knows about manga....OWO!!!

i love this and i think its about a person who lives in a dull place where everyone wants to act the same, fit in and not be different and the person notices it. But sometimes there seems to be one person who stands out being their self

maybe I'm just not a metaphorical type of person so I really was confused by this.. I'd assume a kite is meant to be a colorful thing flying in the wind so in turn the girl is shown as a dreamer, also painted colorful and maybe whimsical as a strong believer. I really like the last section and the way you did the text!

I don't think it is essential that this particular girl is in the spotlight - rather, it could be anyone. In my opinion a kite is a person who is willing to express his inner self, and can do it well. He isn't affected by the superficiality of others. He actually dares to live in that very world which everyone has in his mind and heart, only his world is more vivid and he tries to make it a reality to others, too. Kites are people who leave the negativeness unheeded instead of seeking vengeance.
When they are woeful, they try not to drag the others in their misery but leave them unharmed. They are good not only when they are happy, and this makes them stand out - they radiate, wanting to pass their positiveness to the others.
I got carried away with my concept, sorry about that:] Sure this isn't what you had had in mind, but that's my interpretation, hope it is useful

Well i don't know what everybody thinks but in my oppinion,firstly the picture is gorgeous..i stared at it a few times now taking in every little detail and second of all,it seems pretty obvious to me that the girl is a kite..also the kite(girls) could represent freedom..Anyways..just my oppinion :3

i think... hmm... kite is like a bird, tied to the ground like, theres limited freedom, cause a kite can fly with it being tied to something, but it will crash once that rope is broken... argghh!! cant explain well sorry im asian lol, try again,
the kite represents someone you hold dear, you gave him freedom and his gone, and you long for it... kinda sad

Here's my guess: i don't know what kites are to you (or the person who is saying this), but whatever it is, it is something that gives you hope and something that you would cherish. You haven't seen kites for a long time, as if they have died out. But you haven't given up, they must be still out there somewhere, only waiting to be found.

I take it to mean that the 'kite' is happiness and even though the world always seems so full of sorrow, the girl in the picture still thinks that there's away to be happy, even if the world around her is nothing but anger and sadness?

graphically the the picture is great contrasting darks and lights and colors well. the story is fun and and seems symbolic especialy since in the first frame the picture is dark. like the fact that there are no kites seen in a while is depressing but the frames get progressively brighter as the mood of the text becomes more uplifting.

I looked it like, the now grey, muggy, world doesn't have any kites. But some people (like the girl) still believes and plans to change the world she lives in one step at a time. So in a way she's making her own kite.

Hmmm welll.... I think that "kite" is someone who is not afraid to voice her/his own opinion, that doesn't care what ppl say, that they are unique and wonderful not the plain average. Someone that still has dreams and hopes, and that wants to make them true. Someone different.

As some have already said, I think, I agree with the idea that a kite is a person who stands out of the crowd. Someone not afraid of doing what they wish to do, who has ideals and dreams they want to realize. Someone with the ability to pull others along, win them over, and make something great. Then again, it could be anything that's getting rare these days. The girl strongly supports the impression of something regarding human nature, however, so it's most likely a positive trait found in humans. Gives one the feeling of wanting to do better.

I don't really get the message tho. When you said "kite" was it really that "kite"? Or are you using a metaphor? As I've seen in the 1st frame, while the other words are written in grey color, only the "kite" word is written in white

yes, it's a metaphorical sentence. XD the girl's kinda a metaphor of "hope" or "happiness", which is symbolised by "kite" in the sentence....confusing....haha~
