Description xD
This picture was inspired by a conversation I had with :iconlittledomonpixie:
Alor of People on Gaiaonline do not understand what Different Lolita fashions look like, so I decided I would try to accturately draw a bunch of styles.
I think I might be a bit off on some of them, and I should have probably donemore, but I like them.
They are supposed to be leaning together in pairs. n n;

From Left to Right:
Sweet Lolita, Pink and Pretty
Kodona, English and young
Elegant Aristocrat Lolita, Sophisticated and adult
Elegant Gothic lolita, Classy and clean
Wa-Lolita, a Mixture of east and west
Punk Lolita, rebelious and cool

So, there you go!

*bought skirt for wa-lolita today* I already have the top so it's all up to design! Mwah! *huggles* I think I can get you a top too, if you take 1 or 2 classes of karate (free...) but you might have to pay for the top...I don't know how my dojo works like that. I've been there too long... XP

GOOD STUFF!

I fyou need any more info..

Gothic Lolita

- Traditionally black and white but is not limited to these two tones.
- Usually dark coloured and themed (ie. crosses and veils)
- Sweeter than Western Goth but darker than Sweet Lolita (Which means don't wear fishnet stockings with this , have heavy make up and high chunky boots or multicoloured striped socks and call yourself a Gothic Lolita)
- Sometimes more mysterious than cute (This doesn't mean going around and dissing everyone or being loud and emo)
- Mostly black, white and a little blue or red.
- Very popular among band girls (Band girls are girls that only wear Lolita when going to concerts and such..my understanding anyway)
- Brands include: - Moi Meme Moitie, Innocent World, Atelier Pierrot, Millefleures

Kuro Lolita

- Means Black Lolita
- Often spotted with a Shirololita counterpart (that whole light and dark thing most people like to do)
- More cheerful and cuter (Cheerful and cuter does not mean crazy and skipping)
- Minimal Make up (Make up done tastefully looks really good)
- Plain cloth texture, i.e. cotton
- Style often crosses over with Gothic Lolita
- Brands include:- Atelier Pierrot, H.Naoto, H.Naoto Blood and Frill, Angelic Pretty, Innocent World, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Cornet

Shiro Lolita

- Means White Lolita
- Apparently it is hard to pull off as "too poofy" will make you look like a giant marshmellow
- Never wear a white dress with black boots as it will stand out and look extremely ugly (They're right about the standing out part. It's called Shirololi for a reason)
- Brands include:- Visible, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Metamorphose temps de fille

Ama Lolita

- Means Sweet Lolita
- Cutest and most colourful (Does not mean like Fruits or Decora. Colour co-ordination is still important)
- Has all traditional Lolita elements in brighter colours (NOT Fluro)
- Lace and Frills
- Also known as Koterori - the originals
- Teddy Bears (If you overdo this it will either look very decora or that there's something wrong with you)
- Use of Headpieces (I think most lolita should follow this rule but probably head accessories is very important for ama loli because in my opinion it is alot more fancy than gothloli.)
-Use of informal language (Now the concept of Amaloli is that it's meant to be child-like and cute so that's why they use informal language. This does not mean that you shouldn't be polite and use at least semi-formal language when speaking with elders. As far as my understanding of informal goes, it is colloquial and certainly not slang, but that's because I've never like using much slang anyway. And Hectic means terrible. Please get your english right.
- Brands Include:- Baby The Stars Shine Bright, Angelic Pretty, Innocent World, MAM

Hime Lolita

-Means Princess Lolita
- Inspired by Roccoco Age
- Very fancy - mini crowns or tiaras
- long skirts (So I think that if you are short like me, unless you are wearing extremely high heeled shoes, please don't choose this look. It'll look very dwarfish)
- Floral print patterns
- Elaborate hair
- Hime cut with cheek length bangs and long, straight hair (Hime cut is not neccessarily himeloli but it generally makes you look more mature. a hime cut with cheek length bangs is pretty short so please ask your hair-stylist if this suits you or not before you cut it. Mine is chin-length)
- Common hairstyle - Half pulled back
- Light make up for princess look, bold make up for queen look.
- Highly decorated nails
- Brands include:- Angelic Pretty, Antique Beast, Atelier Pierrot, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Metamorphose, Romantic Princess, Suppurate System

Country Lolita

- Subcategory of Amalolita
- Straw hats and dress in gingham, floral and fruit patterns
- Often grouped with sweet lolita
- Generally looks like Amaloli out for a picnic
- Brands include:- Angelic Pretty, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Innocent World, Mary Magdelene, Victorian Maiden

Although some people are always dressed as country lolita, I think most Lolita wear country style outfits with straw hats when they go for picnics

Sailor Lolita

- Skirts that have nautical stripes around the edges
- Blouses have sailor collars and ties
- Sailor Hats
- Subcategory of Sweet Lolita
- Brands Include:- Angelic Pretty, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Metamorphose, Putumayo

Sailor Lolita the way I see would be what Lolita wear to school or when they go to the beach.

Classic Lolita

- Mature Version of Sweet Lolita (It is said that a maiden over the age of 22 should switch from sweet lolita to class lolita. In my opinion the transition should occur at 20 and no later than 21)
- Less Cute, more elegant
- Few ruffles and ribbons
- Important use of language and etiquette
- Very reserved
- Can be creepy and strange in the way they talk
- Natual curls or straight hair left down
- Hair bows, head dresses and flower barrettes
- Feminine make up with dark lipstick colours as opposed to sweet lolita
- Brands include:- Mary Magdelene, Vitorian Maiden, Juliette -et- Justine, Innocent World, Jane Marple

Punk Lolita

- It's the fine line between pleasure and pain. (jks jks, it's a crossover of Lolita and Western Punk)
- Adorable and a bit cute
- Tend to wear bell-shaped skirts or frilly blouse
- Only style where chunky boots fit (I agree with this with the exception of some dandy but serious chucky black boots don't go with a shirololi outfit and white boots don't go with shirololi in the summer time either)
- Simple Make up: tinted gloss, little eyemakeup (It's a crossover between lolita and punk so therefore you shouldn't look like you're in drag)
- Simple, straight hair - let down or in pig tails (now I disagree with this. I think that unless you are wearing a cap, most of the time an effort should be made to style your hair. Straight hair is more of a friendly , relaxed and lazy look)
- Brands Include:- Black Peace Now, H.Naoto, Maris Rock, Putumayo, Sexpont Revenge, Union Jack.

Wa and Qi lolita

- Waloli: Japanese inspired lolita outfits i.e. kimono or yukata
- Lace and Obi are present
- Orient and solid prints

-Qi Lolita: Chinese Inspired 'Qi Pao'
- Use of Mandarin collars and frog closures
- Chinese print fabric
- Often sleeveless, sometimes puffy sleeves
- Straight hair or in buns with chopsticks or kanzashi
- Brands include:- Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Bodyline, Ma/Mam, Metamorphose, Otometteubaki, Schwartz WeiB, Dolls, Soraumi

As far as I know, Wa and Qi lolita are quite hard to pull off

Guro Lolita

- Grotesque/Injured Lolita
- Eye patches, blood stains, fake bruises, bandages, slings
- Can look scary, grotesque or cute

Now, if you were to walk on the streets normally like this unfortunately you would either be arrested or sent to hospital or just scare the living daylights out of most people which is why I would refrain from this style unless it's for concerts or conventions

Ero Lolita

- More revealing
- Collars, handcuffs, garters, vinyl fabrics
- Corsets
- Unlike Western Ero, it's still modest and innocent
- Usually for clubbing and concerts
- Black and red
- Vampire/dark eyeshadows and crimsons or black lipstick (Please refrain from using black lipstick if it doesn't suit you. The same goes with eyeshadow and please don't apply alot. You will look like drag)
- Brands include:- Alice Auaa, Atelier Boz, Atelier Pierrot, Elements, Excentringe, H.Naoto, Na + H, Black Peace Now

Cosplay Lolita (Cosloli)/ Otaku Lolita (Otaloli)/ Painful Lolita (Italoli)

- Lolita Outfits tend to be cheaply made
- Less Conservative than real lolita clothes (Etiquette wise too)
- Common Look: French Maid or Gothic Lolita
- Add-ons: cat ears, wings, etc
- Alot of black and white
- Headdresses
- Heavily influenced by Anime and Manga
- Usually younger fans i.e. teenagers
- Use of handcuffs
- Entrance phase some lolita go through (I was an Italoli when I started out in year 9 because I never bothered to research anything)
- Wear clothes that somehow , do not suit them (As with some cosplayers too)
- Super Polite language (I disagree with this one. Alot of Italoli I've seen are very very loud and far from modest)
- Elaborate Make up
- Annoying - trying too hard or not at all (I don't find Italoli overall annoying but it's just the little things they do which can be fixed such as getting rid of cat ears, being a little more modest and perhaps not wearing 3 layers of stockings and socks)
- Brands Include:- Putumayo, BATSU, Bodyline and Most of the things from Shibuya (I put in Shibuya because of those who haven't realised, alot of the Italoli start there. I was an Italoli before shibuya had opened up so the most I did was find mix and match clothes from other stores and make headdresses. Alot of cosplayers or con attendees tend to go to Shibuya to buy lolita and alot of them have no knowledge on what lolita is. I find alot of things from Shibuya over-priced with bad quality and quite lacey and ero in some manner.

Cyber Lolita

- Feotus (Miyavi) and Takuya Angel
- Bright, Neon Colours
- Use of traditional Japanese design elements and fabrics

Now Cyber loli is extremely a hard style to master and so far most of those who I've seen around either look really bad or really bad.

Band Girls

- Some dress for concerst only
- Wear clothes because their idols wear it
- Not into the politics of being Lolita
- Snobby Lolita use this term with a derogatory meaning
- Brands include:- H.Naoto, Moi Meme Moitie

Aristocrat/Elegant Gothic Aristocrat

-Mature
- Longer Skirts
- What lolita grow up to be
- STRITCTLY Moitie or Moitie look a likes
- Mature Makeup (White face is not neccessary)
- Hair is usually pulled back in an elegant bun or worn down. Hair is often straight, unless in pigtails like Mana.

Now I tend to think that boys/ crossdresser are quite suited to Aristocrat.

Elegant Gothic Sumololita

- Mana's newest Style
- Frilly Sumo underpants
- Custom designed for aging crossdressers

Male Styles

- Some think there are no male lolita
- Kodana or Dandy or Prince (Eastern Punk as well in my opinion but emo and western Goth and Punk are not)
- Usually cross-dressing
- Brands Include:- Putumayo, Black Peace Now, Union Jack, Maxicaman(Ma), Metamorphose, Atelier Boz and H.Naoto
