Description A statue of Christ that I photographed in St Jacobs cathedrale in Innsbruck, Austria. It is, of course, a very baroque cathedrale. Normally I don't like baroque much (gothic is more of my thing), but I liked this statue a lot.

As for those, who don't get the title (as it's in Latin): it's often written on the outside of churches "Ego sum via, veritas et vita" - that's something Jesus said in Bible: "I am the way, the truth and the life".

im not crazy about the statue but my grandfather knows latin and it is very interesting if you're learning about the supernatural. i normally dont see images of jesus clothed in gold and riches but as he said he is the king and that is what kings are granted. but i do love how you put the title in latin. here's a deviation of mine that you might find interesting [link]

Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

God Bless,
~ik

Via, Veritas et Vita... I thought that might be Latin for "Way, Truth and Life"
Just a random interest of mine...

Awesome statue, too. Even the marks in his hands (even if they probably would have been through the wrists in accurate history)
They must have used the description from Revelation to make it.

Yes, via, veritas at vita IS "way, truth and life" in Latin.

Being a Harry Potter fan, it's my duty to know some Latin phrases. This is one I know.

Thank you for the translation (I never studied Latin!)--and I completely agree: it's a beautiful sculpture. The colors and the expression are especially appealing.

I haven't studied Latin either, but I know a couple of phrases. I learned them 'cause I wanted to show off that I know some Latin.

Haha...that's pretty neat Yeah, it seems very...colorful. Is that a characteristic of the style it's in?
