Titles: Baron Dimitri Khons

Appearance: A tall lean vampire, he appears to be a human in his thirties, which was the about the age when he became a vampire initially. His hair though initially light brown is now completely silvery-white. His pupils are no longer visible, all that can be seen are two bluish orbs, in deep set eye sockets. He has four parallel scars beneath his eyes (two under each) from an attack that nearly claimed his life when human. He always wears dark clothing, (see weaknesses) consisting of a stereotypical black high collared cloak, this one complete with crystal spikes in the shape and color of ice. He wears a boiled leather armor shirt and boots, black leather gloves, pants and greaves. He has upper leg and groin armor as well as knee guards with the runic inscriptions on them.

Personality: Deceptively kind yet incredibly conceited, he looks down on his “subjects” undead or living. He has a dignified air about him and he boasts that he can gain the trust of any woman, because he believes he knows exactly what they want to hear. He has a determined goal to convert the entire continent into monsters like him, and he is forever trying to replace his first wife, who died during a plague outbreak in his original village.

History: Dimitri Khons was born in the desert of Mahbeb to a small farming couple Ulric Khons and Maerda Khons, as youngest of three children: Seteh, Ulric II and Dimitri. His siblings and he fought constantly, Dimitri was always picked on by his older brother, Seteh and usually defended by Ulric II. Eventually the older two grew up and moved out, leaving Dimitri alone. As Dimitri reached the age of 25, Ulric was imprisoned on the charge of perjury, where he died shortly after his incarceration at age 63, his wife followed him a month and a half later at 62, of natural causes exacerbated by grief. The orphaned Dimitri however now found himself partial inheritor of a modest estate, which his brother Seteh refused to allow him to sell.
This caused a rift between the three of them. Ulric II and Dimitri conspired against Seteh and killed him for the estate shares. The two split it in half, and after they sold it, Dimitri fell in love with a woman named Katarinah, and married her. The marriage was happy one, but three years later a massive wave of plague hit his town and claimed her life and that of Ulric II. However Dimitri survived and took Emilia Verdunl, his older brother’s widow in and married her. Shortly after his thirtieth birthday, he had an intense revelation that he saw his first wife, and swore to find a way to resurrect her. He attended a meeting with a necromancer, who attempted a séance to see if she could be reached. However the ceremony was done incorrectly and the orb the man used exploded killing him, and the shards of dark energy and his soul imbedded themselves in Dimitri’s body, slowly infusing him with their powers, and ultimately transforming him into a vampire.

After the incident, Dimitri noticed the changes slowly, he couldn’t leave the house in the daylight, and after a few months could no longer eat or drink, he had survived on blood. His new wife became his first victim, and then his first follower, her shift was much swifter than his. The two had to leave the desert and immigrated to the marshlands of Erebus in the south. They hid in an old barony mansion restoring it at night, and sleeping in boxes of earth during the day. The mansion was eventually saved and the two began to enjoy their lives as best they could, kidnapping farm animals and goblins to feed off of. Emilia left one night to bring a cow for their next meal, when she fought against a farmer who managed to kill her with a knife he had been cutting garlic with. Widowed again, Dimitri recovered her body and prepared it for her eventual resurrection, along with the body of his first wife’s, which he recovered from the Mahbeb necropolis.

He began to develop his awakening powers, and after trying them out on the population, creating many monsters, but none of his own ilk, put himself to sleep for a 100 years, when they would have matured greatly. When he awoke, a new force had entered the swamp. In a newly fortified castle, a half-demon named Anubis established a monarchy and began to crush the violent creatures unleashed do to the vampire’s meddling in the past. The vampire challenged the demon and the two were unable to annihilate the other. Dimitri was forced back into his mansion, where Anubis sealed the perimeter, and dug a moat around the castle, directed from the river, effectively trapping him, and flooding the under chambers of his castle. The vampire surrounded the entire area with thick ice, blocking the sun out and freezing the first moat. The war between the two had begun. Anubis realizing he was incapable of killing the vampire, commissioned two vampire hunters, Ixion Maurlino and Kalani Floreau to put an end to him.

Relations: Parents: Ulric and Maerda Khons-deceased, Older brothers: Seteh and Ulric II- deceased. First wife: Katarinah Khons-deceased (eventually brought back as a vampire), second wife: Emilia Verdunl- deceased.

Powers/Forms: Dimitri has the traditional powers of the vampires from Bram Stoker’s Dracula: He can transform into a giant bat, a great wolf and mist. He can also summon bats, wolves and dogs to attack, and he can suck (Vampires scrape and lick) blood from a bite on the neck, which eventually changes the victim into one of his kind, depending on amount of blood lost. Departing from the traditional he can manipulate ice and transform humans into monsters.

Weaknesses: He has all of the weaknesses of traditional vampire, If he is caught outside during the day, he will die. The sun’s light even in light quantities is fatal to him, fire damages him greatly as well. Garlic annoys his senses, and inhaling the scent of it burns his lungs. Holy water is like corrosive acid on his skin, anything in shape of a cross can injure him, and a crucifix raised in his direction weakens him. He cannot cross-moving water by his own volition; he must stop the flow or have something else move him across. He has no reflection, and cannot cast a shadow. Salt circles are barriers to him and his magic. To enter the household of another being, Dimitri must be given permission by a person already inside.

Weapons: He has no static weapons, but he can fashion them out of ice.

Unlike the obnoxious departures in Twilight (sparkly vampires) and the sex-driven fan fiction-victims in the Anne rice novels, I’ve kept him sorta tradtionalish. He is not outside in the light in the picture; I was far to lazy to color a background. The image to the right is his mansion covered by the ice, to block out the sun so he can work in some of the rooms during the day.

I would be telling an outright lie if I didn’t say he was heavily influenced by several things,
1. Dracula, the Novel by Bram Stoker, I really liked the book, and decided that I wanted a storyline with the legends involved.
2. Dracula, from Konami’s Castlevania Franchise- I’m addicted to the series, I’ve played a couple games now (Order of Ecclesia, Circle of the Moon, Castlevania, Aria of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin) and the influences are apparent especially in Ixion and Dimitri’s design and weapons.
3. Szadek, Lord of Secrets, from the Dimir Guild Magic the gathering’s Ravnica set, my favorite guild from the block, and my favorite dude from the book series. Dimitri’s not a mind-eater like Szadek, but he has similar color scheme to House Dimir in general.
4. Baron Sengir, basically the name and the fact he’s a vampire. I’ve only heard of his name in passing, but I’ll list it to spite myself.
As far as from my side, I combined several characters to make him, Equinox, Chronos and Khonsu I mishmashed them and came out with Dimitri as a final result.

1. Amenism is based on the Egyptian’s religion, with Amen at the head of the pantheon. (It’s not the real name, but it’s the official one for the religion on Helios)
2. Mabheb is the Desert land based off of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia

Awesome, very nice character design, the outfit looks really neat. And that's one cool history to him, as well.

I did laugh at that small scrape and lick reference, too. Dracula don't suck!

Nice vampire. I like how you've played so many of the vampire weaknesses straight to make up for his powers. However, it looks like he can enter a home without being invited...

Well, his barony mansion was first a hiding place that he entered uninvited, but it's abandoned so it probably doesn't count.

yeah, I think when I wrote it, I figured it would be a loophole because it was unoccupied, but then forgot why that mattered towards the end.

Very cool description, I sort've guessed he was a vampire when it said 159 years old! Nice detailing on the drawing. ^_^

His history is really in depth; I especially like the way he became a vampire in a not-so-conventional sense (the scrape and lick part just made me cackle. Oh gah). I absolutely love the color scheme you've used and his hair color, too.
