Description "Adieu"

It's always good to have spots in one's mind that we can run to close by for sunrise and sunsets. I am extraordinarily lucky that this is that close to my house. Some friends asked me to head down here for sunset about 20 min before the sun was to depart so hurrying to the trail and mostly running/sliding down it, got down to the bottom and was greeted by this scene.

From a technical standpoint these shots are always tricky. Camera's are not good at capturing the range of light in scenes like this. The main exposure is taken with a 3stop Reverse GND to control the light but that leaves us with an ugly dark line across the landscape in this case so I took 2 other exposures to be able to blend it away. Then the normal dodge/burn.

Oh yea...then the sunset went cotton candy nuclear. More soon!

Thanks!

Think this is my favourite image in your excellent gallery, Aaron. Just love the leading line off to the sunset, complemented by the waterfalls and the contrast of the green vegetation with the glowing sun. Nice job.

aaron, that's a stunning capture! only the darks parts of the sea around the sun appear in my eyes when it comes to judging the technical side. yeah, these scenes are very hard do preserve in a picture, i know

very beautiful and congrats on such great photo.
question.. your saying you took more than exposure so is that 2 one for the sun and the other one for the land and then merge it?
and if that so have you used any filters?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

aFeinPhoto-com In reply to Baher-Amin [2011-08-20 10:42:55 +0000 UTC]

explained the filters/blending in the description. the other shots blended in were for the grad line from the filter. thanks!

Tremendous work putting it together. I can imagine very well what's involved in making it happen The highlights are magnificently preserved. Something for me to learn here.

Maybe get rid of that little flare, and a couple of bright specs in the lower left corner?

You definitely are lucky to live close to this place
Absolutely beautiful, now you have to get more captures
in different weather~ time of day and season, it would be really neat to see
more of this beautiful magical scene
You be amazed how the same spot can change so much.
Wow nice to be easily able to to do this editing
in time I will learn and not ruin beautiful compositions LOL!

I have a ridiculous amounts of shots of this place...one of my first keepers is from here...check "crab with a view". This is just about perfect for here...could use the sun just a bit more to the right...but not sure I'll need to shoot this again...but then again...I probably will Thanks!
