You will get caught, zoom lenses are good tools for catching you unawares
No, seriously, i think this shot is fine as it is, the composition is good and the tones work well, maybe a little border around it in black would set it off a little more,

the pics i take of myself are generally okay, but since my autofocus broke on my camera, can't do that anymore
for some reason, when other people take pics of me, i look terrible... i don't know how, since i let them use my camera... i just end up looking... yech...

well, i put it on automatic for them and give them directions on how to focus, which they usually do fine.
i don't mind having photos taken of me. i have a lot of fun with it, 'cause i get to do the things i think i want them to do... they just never turn out very flattering...
