Thank you. Living on Lake Michigan, we bet blasted every year with lake effect snow. Nothing like adding insult to injury.

My husband has relatives that live on the lake too, I'm going to have to find out exactly where they live. Might be near you Sounds a bit cold for me though

You know, I've heard that before, but sometimes it does snow. Most of it came during the day when it was warmer and the temps dropped overnight making for a nasty morning. I'm so grateful I didn't have to get up and scrape the car windows the next morning.

I like the snow but could do without the freezing temps. This year I'm going to get some winter photos. I say that every year, but I'm going to make it happen this year.

Looking at your other photos, I'd bet you have a lot of great places that would look great in the winter. We haven't had much here, but most of ours comes in January, so I'm just waiting with my camera.

Thanks. I wasn't planning on doing one, but it started to develop so I worked at it. Figured it was that time of the year.

aw dude! thats friggin' awsome!! apophysis? how'd you get it so smetricle?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to Schwig [2004-12-19 06:33:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I set the forced symmetry to rotational and set it at 5. From there I screwed around with the triangles, mutated, and repeated that until I had this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Schwig In reply to Aeires [2004-12-19 06:35:11 +0000 UTC]

sweet, i'm totally trying that laterz...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to Schwig [2004-12-19 06:43:40 +0000 UTC]

Bilaterals give you a mirrored image from left to right and dihedrals, well, I'm not completely sure, but I learned about rotationals from a contest a long time ago. If you use forced symmetry, don't move the symmetry triangles. They are the higher numbered ones that all have the same size and shape. Moving them seriously screws up the symmetry and usually blurs your image in attrocious ways.

-tosses him a few warm blankets- I can relate, maybe not THAT cold, but when yer cold, it doesn't matter what the temp is. This is a nice simple piece though. Captures the weather well as far as the holiday.

Aeires In reply to GossamerWings [2004-12-19 03:47:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. Yeah, it gets to a certain point where you're just plane cold. Going to be a long three months.

aww, that's pretty...

...(have u noticed that almost always ur fractals or photos reminds me something?)
well, this time, (i know is crazy i say this but), a Reinita (a delicated bird, don't know how u call them) just made a nest almost exactly on the top of our Christmas tree, lol. She also have a few eggs already, and its the best strange decoration ever, lol.

(i talk 2 much) lol, never mind, see ya'

Aeires In reply to MisticAngel [2004-12-19 04:00:12 +0000 UTC]

Hope that's an outdoor tree.

Thanks for the comments on this one. I was tempted to go for a simple star, like in the Christmas Story, but I had the rotation set at 5 points, so I went with a snow flake instead, or at least I think there are snowflakes that are 5 sided.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MisticAngel In reply to Aeires [2004-12-19 15:59:41 +0000 UTC]

yes, lol, is on my balcony...lol.

and the snowflake looks even better on full view, so i can see the details, so pretty, and if they aren't 5 sided ones, then u created them lol.
