Thank you. I'm focusing on colors right now, namely how to blend them smoothly so it was good to hear that.

Havn't perused your gallery in some time, but I have to say that this piece is perhaps one of the finer displays of what a good artistic eye can find in the nature of fractalism with enough patience and expertise. Wonderful work; the colors, composition, structure, everything - it works so well as a whole, and is quite compelling. And it was submitted on my birthday.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's funny, but the formulas that really give me problems and total frustration alwyas seem to work out with interesting results. Unfortunately they absorb hours upon hours of work that gets deleted after things don't work. With that in mind, my next one should be interesting, another weird formula that's driving me crazy.

Makes me think of a windtunnel sitated inside a copper tube. Great textures and color management. One of the cool things visually with this is that you get the illusion of the blades cutting/sheering the background.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to MelonLogic [2006-05-19 03:14:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. The blades were actually the first thing I worked with. From there it was adding textures and the last was color adjusting things to smooth it all out. It's also one of a very small amount in my gallery that has masking and mapping mixed together.

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D. feature ! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, REGARDLESS of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like and sometimes artwork isn't featured in the regular DDs because it's popular all on it's own It's a shame, but the admins are only trying to be fair! ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! xoxo Sandi oxo

I do love the sense of depth in his piece. The way it seems to swirl around the viewer's head is incredibly interesting as well. A good metaphor of the never-ending cycles of life.

Bingo! The bulk of comments were about weather, but it's about how things seem to never change and always come around again. Thank you very much.

This is just cool! I love all of the textures here, especially that on the silver that looks like water droplets. The contrast between the warm and cool colors is nicely balanced here, they definitely bring out the seasons theme. I love how you've drawn the focal point to the bottom left of the piece by increasing the amount of design in that area without unbalancing the piece as a whole. The repitition and symmetry of this piece give it a real feel of continuity.

Thank you very much for the detail analysis, you summed up a lot of what I was intending with this image. The water drops are my favorite part of this but I gotta admit, the blue section had my interest going near the end.

Love the colours and shapes.

It was most effective for me when it was first loading and still above the nexus, I'd love to see a re-crop of this that excludes everything but the top two silver "bars" and the associated reds.

That beign said... beautiful as always.

Aeires In reply to exquisiteoath [2006-05-23 03:48:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It's an eight bladed fan in the entirety so there's not much beyond what is shown. I tinkered around with this idea but couldn't quite get something framed properly. It was a very difficult formula, probably the most difficult I've ever used so I used a kaleidescope mapping on it just to get the fans into it.

exquisiteoath In reply to Aeires [2006-05-23 14:04:20 +0000 UTC]

It is a stunning piece, and my comment wasn't so much a "not this way" as a "what about this way" sort of thing. Your hard work definately has paid off.
