The office was just as inappropriate as Claire had expected. inefficient, covered in old books and dim lighting. A woman sat at the desk, eyeing Claire hesitantly.

"You must be Claire. Pleased to meet you."

Claire smiled without warmth. "You can call me Miss DeLuna, thank you. And you are?"

"Corvia Ravenwine. call me Raven."

Claire scoffed. "Okay then, Raven. We're liasons between your... little town and my empire. I was hoping we could spend some time going over some of the unaccepably loose freedoms in Hexford and go from there." Her smile never faltered.

Raven controlled her fury. "I would be happy to, in order to promote your synergy or increase shareholder cohesion or whatever. But first, your conoany has assigned us to inspect the new delivery."

"Of girls?"

"Of equipment. they installed it in the basement yesterday. The instruction manual wasn't included."

"Could you have even read it without cutesy bats and spiderwebs all over the pages? Whatever the equipment is, it probably doesn't run on eye of newt." Claire's delivery was clipped and disrespectful.

Raven chose to bite her lip and not respond. Without another word, she stood and led Claire down to the basement of the building.
