Commission from New York Comic Con 2013; Copic marker, ink, white paint pen, colored pencil.
Had fun with this, but when is it NOT a good time when you're drawing a Doctor? Made the mistake of looking through an Adam Hughes sketchbook before working on this and wound up going a little bonkers with the ink details--none of which really even show up. They make a slight difference in the actual piece, but you wouldn't know at all in this photo.
I'm really leaning toward trying out one of those portable scanner wand things. If anybody's had good or bad experiences, let me know.

Matt Smith is a fun one to draw because his features are already so extreme, it's real easy to get his likeness. And I'm particularly impressed with the texture work you did on his jacket. The white pin on his arm blows my mind. With something that cool coming through, I can't imagine what kind of details were lost.
And I've already told you what portable scanner I use, but in case anyone else reads this and wants to know - the TaoTronics mobile scanner is pretty awesome. I haven't tried scanning any marker stuff yet, but pencil drawings and black/white ink on colored paper come through great.

Ol' Smithy sure is easy to turn into a cartoon, that's for sure. I'll miss drawing him once 12th Doc becomes the rage. Though older dudes tend to be easier to draw in general, so I'm sure he's going to be fun as well.

I'll have to take your word for it; I'm still getting commissions for Tennant. lol
But, yeah, it's always fun to draw a face with "character". Next time I commission you, I'll have to get you to do something Breaking Bad just so that you get the chance to draw Bryan Cranston. lol

Indeed. Even though I think I might like Smith just a tiny little bit better, Tennant will always be 'my Doctor'.
