Rotring ink & isographs, a3.

Winter Witch is reaching for a baby left on the snow, while wolves approach and crows wait for their feast.
You may notice the witch's breast are funny, that's because they are referenced on the she-wolf that took care of Remus and Romulus.
There's a story hidden in this drawing. It tells of winter hardship, how predators are more noticeable and dangerous when their prey is hidden or asleep, how new life is very fragile during this season, how winter sometimes seems endless (hence the lack of horizon), how something dangerous can actually save someone in need... ok, if I could write what I mean I wouldn't be drawing it instead

Ooooo. I love the witch. Especially her fingers and the way her dress turns into roots.

If I'm allowed to make a picky comment, I think the baby might have been better off just a little bit further down the page. He looks like he's slightly behind where the witch is reaching.

On the other hand, that could just be my eyes being special. >_<

Awesome wolves and a wonderful little scene all in all.

thank you!
yeah, the baby was a bit problematic, I mean it was in the design i imagined, it just kept changing (i mean its pose) I think maybe because of all the babies on the ground i've seen in the late medieval/renaissance paintings depicting adoration of baby Jesus? especially this one: www.laurajeannegrimes.com/uplo… - every time i see it i feel like his mother just dropped him and everybody is going "awww!"
in the end, it I just had to put any baby there. After looking at it now - you are right, it should be lower. tst, my bad
thank you again!

I don't think the breasts look funny - I mean, yes, they look different from what one expects, but I thought they fit the image well. Her position is very creepy and angular anyway, so the breasts fit right in with that. Awesome job

This is so eerie, I really like it. I love how the tattered 'dress' flares out into tree roots. I love the decision to place the baby facing away from us, it makes it seem more innocent, however I do wish that the baby was a bit heavier in line weight to make it pop a bit more. Great work.

thank you! Yeah, there's something not right about the "baby" figure, it looks like it was copy-pasted into the whole picture. Maybe it's the outline, like you say, or some shading missing... Well, lesson for the future thank you!
