Description (copypasta description of an incredible experience I had)
After Maine, we drove down to Massachusetts and stayed in the suburbs of Boston. Boston is too fast-paced and incredibly crowded for any person to stay sane (which is probably why everyone seemed to be smoking ), but we managed to get on a whale watch (our second time since Maine) that went out from Boston Harbor, and the experience is once of a lifetime and something we will never forget...

When we made it out to the significantly colder open water where we got to see the magnificent beasts of the sea, a certain expected guest made a visit that was quite unexpected. This was a juvenile humpback whale that approached the back of the boat where my mother was with her red glove, and it lifted its flipper briefly. She waved in response. And magnificently, the animal purposefully waved back, making its flipper go up and down. It kept going under and around the boat and popping up along the sides just so it could wave at us. These giant beasts are no simpletons. It was actively interacting with us (with thanks to my mom) and even the tour guide said this had never happened before.

Unfortunately, there were so many people crowding along the edges whenever the whale would go to one side of the boat, so I had to literally shoot some of these photos from under other people's armpits (without trying to actually shove people). How fun that was...
I also am unsure if we got footage of this encounter. It would be fantastic if I find a hidden clip somewhere in my computer files...

This was truly a blessing, and we have never experienced something like this since. The beautiful baby played with us for longer than an hour. Hopefully these beauties will continue to be conserved...
