Can you actually "stab" an arm? Wouldn't "cut" make more sense?

Xei: Stab, cut, slice, chop, mutilate... I think of stab as deeper than a cut because cutting involves a horizontal movement whereas stabbing is vertical. Actually I was aiming for her face but she raised her arm to protect herself, which I am actually very happy she had the reflex to do so because I quite like her face now.
