I am so obsessed with this show thanks to the wonderful fan art of *burdge-bug .
I just had to do some of my own.

Didn't really feel like drawing their faces or shading all those orange jumpsuits,
so I just scanned the lines and did the rest with Photoshop Elements.
So ghetto, I know. But I like how it turned out

It's a really nice piece though. The cartoon element makes it seem urban to me and the photoshop-ness (Not even a word but i don't care ) makes it dirty and city-like. I like it

I really like the effect you used of not putting the faces there, it looks brilliant. I've been meaning to watch Misfits.
I have a question about Photoshop. For digital art, do you think I need a full-on, new version of Photoshop, or is Elements all I need? Because Photoshop Elements is a lot cheaper and if I don't need the other things that come with normal Photoshop, then... it's kind of pointless to buy the whole thing, right?
Got any advice?

I am probably not the best person to ask about digital art, but I'll tell you what I can . This is about as far as I go with it, because I don't have a tablet. So what I did here was draw the lines traditionally, scan them in, and then I just colored with my mouse and put a texture over it. Really simple stuff. I only have Photoshop Elements on my laptop (it came with the computer), and it does what I need it to do. I've used Photoshop CS5 during classes, and it definitely has more, but I think Elements has all the basic...elements (ha ha ) that CS5 has. Of course, you don't want to buy Elements and then decide a month later that you want CS5. Have you used the trial versions of the software? Adobe offers month trials of all their software as long as you've never used it before. I'd suggest trying out both programs, and then deciding which one's best for you. Whichever one you decide to purchase, though, make sure you get the student price for it (I'm sure you were planning to), because that literally takes off hundreds of dollars from the list price.

Thanks for writing a novel for me! This is really helpful. I didn't even know about the student prices. I don't know much actually, I'm just starting my research. But that's an excellent idea to do the trials (haha, I actually didn't know about that either).
I'm going to buy a tablet as well, so I hope I don't need any extra things that CS5 has and Elements doesn't. I'll have to test it and see, I think...

Ha, no problem! Glad I could help!
I would wait til you get your tablet, then download both trials, and then you can see which one works well with your tablet. Then you'll have the full 30 day trial of each of them. Of course, there are other programs you can buy as well. I don't know much about any of them, but I've heard great things about Paint Tool SAI. Not sure how to get it or how much it is, but I think you can get a trial of that too.
