Description the title is a reference to the book Midnighters Vol. 1 by Scott Westerfeld
in it the main character thinks she is dreaming when she awakens during midnight in the middle of a storm
it is absolutely quiet and the rain that has stopped in mid air appear like diamond orbs to her

my father made me laugh when i showed him this picture

"how'd you get it to stop"
"what stop?"
"..."
"it's a picture dad, the water doesn't keep going, haha"

i think i kinda know what he meant though
because the water comes out in what appears to be a straight jet
but when i took the photograph the water was just coming out and there are gaps in the stream near the end so i categorized this photo as surreal in the end...

i understand if you don't understand anything you just read, haha, i was rambling a bit.

You can take a picture to the water in motion! It doesn't have to stay still like this photo... It all depends on what you want to create.
If you take another photo from same angle with a tripod, a very slow shutter speed (1second or more) and NO flash and your photo will look a lot better! Try it!

haha, thanx
if i ever get a good enough camera though
i don't even have a job yet to get money and currently i'm pretty broke

i did want the flash though for the shiny, metallicy water to appear more like a diamond then water but without the flash it would look really cool too

What camera have you got?

oh no, i have nothing high tech. and it's old
plus i need to buy another simple film camera this summer just for a course at school
and then i have the one i used for this picture which is my digital and at four hundred dollars that's really a lot for me to spend...
photography for me is more of a hobby
haha, my career will probably end up in marketing or food science which i am interested in though

haha, thanx
i'm sorry about that
the only way you'd really understand most of my description is if you read the part in the book i mentioned above

awesome shot..how about diamond is made of water.

AcceptedOutcast In reply to jadhav [2007-11-18 01:41:27 +0000 UTC]

thanx, and that would get the point across to
but in a different way though
i have it as water is made of diamonds instead of diamonds are made of water because the shot is of water not diamonds and if you read my description the title go's along with something i've read.

A photographer after my own heart I love motion photography too - have to say, haven't experienced much with water though...this is a great photo; I love the detail you've captured in the water droplets! Did you use a flash to get the shiny/metallic quality on the water?

AcceptedOutcast In reply to benrobins [2007-07-29 03:21:16 +0000 UTC]

thanx so much , after experiencing with light i found i was better with water
and i did use flash, i didn't want the water to look dull and more like "diamonds" :]
