Tobi now has been proven to be Obito if you have kept up to date on the manga. Madara found him after Obito was crushed by a boulder and pieced his body back together. Obito learned about Rin's death at the hands of Kakashi, and he said that the world was full of lies. He then came up with the name Tobi, and set off to find Nagato, and eventually found him. Obito, declared himself as Madara (by now Madara has died.) Obito kept introducing himself as Madara, and I think that's how some people got confused about his true identity. I am not trying to be mean about it, but if you haven't kept up to date, go to the Narutopedia website and search up Tobi. It will redirect you to Obito Uchiha. Read his background and it will explain where his name came from, what happened to the real Madara, and where Zetsu came from.
