Description
This is my Black Queen costume from Dragon*Con 2010. The choker got left behind, other than that, I'm very proud of the way this turned out!Much of the costume was assembled by me, with some help from two of my friends who saved my ass when work interfered with costuming.

You know, the problem with villains who look this good is that they're not much of a threat. Seriously, if the Black Queen was to tie me up and/or smack me around, well, where's the down side? And then for her to parade around in front of me in that outfit, hot with anger and egomanical rage? Jeez, I'd gladly attempt to foil her evil plan if those were the consequences. It's not like, say, having Blob sit on my head after he'd spent all after noon gorging himself on Taco Bell...in which case, I'd glady choose suicide instead. But getting the crap kicked outta me by The Black Queen? Heck, that's almost as good as being capture by Poison Ivy...

Yeah, yeah...sure, there are down sides to everything. But hey, it's comics. Nobody ever stays dead for more than a year or two. Plus, when you come back you've got this cool story about how the hot evil chick dressed up in leather, juttered and strudded,then made your brain explode.

A question just popped into my head upon looking at this pic. When you go to cons dressed in a black latex-type outfit such as this one, does it tend to gravitate the fetish/perv guys to you more then say, your Ivy costume?
Always wondered if that was a problem for some cosplayers.

Well- it definitely garners more looks, that is for sure. Yet at most Comic conventions, many solid geeks can recognize The Black Queen. Those that don't usually get smacked by a compatriot going "NO- that is the black Queen you idiot, you know? Jean Grey, hellfire club, JEEEZ honestly why do I hang out with you if you don't know anything?!"
As far as problems in costume- I never go anywhere without a handler. Usually a guy friend who can handle any situations I have. Fortunately for me, most of my guy friends are ex-military or police officers. ^_^
