If monika didn't stop sayori from doing the same thing that she did at the end, then there would have been a "just sayori" ending.

What would the game be like if instead of Monika, Sayori was the self-aware one?

I imagine that the game would have been a heck of a lot shorter had she been the self aware one of the group seeing as in the fourth act she doesn't even need to delete Natsuki or even Yuri to get the protagonist all to herself. Now that isn't accounting for what influence Monika might have on the whole scenario, but even so I get the feeling that Sayori would be able to get the protagonist all to herself much easier and quicker, and possibly with a whole lot less deletion. Now assuming that Sayori has the same backstory as she usually does she would already have an advantage over the other three because as often stated during that first act she's the childhood friend of the protagonist that alone gives her a huge advantage over the others as she already has a well established chemistry with the protagonist. Combine that with her manipulation disguised as clumsiness/ditzyness and she has some real potential. Now I can't exactly speak for what role Monika might play in this scenario, or if even the game would work against her the way it did with Monika, but I get the feeling that even if that were the case that Sayori would still have a lot less in the way of leaps to make in order to get the protagonist all to herself. Heck in this scenario she'd most likely be walking with him much how like she does in the actual game something of which Monika never had the chance to do. I'll admit this is just one scenario and there are numerous ways that it could play out but it's definitely interesting to theorize about. Plus in this senario I get the feeling Sayori would still be that little ball of Sunshine we've all come to know and love likely without all that depression as I get the feeling that a lot of that was Monika's manipulation. I feel like her cheerful rather carefree demeanor combined with the fact that she's our childhood friend would make that whole "Just Sayori" thing feel somewhat less uncomfortable and possibly a bit more natural than the "Just Monika" thing ever did. I certainly would not mind playing that version of DDLC as a fan-game it would be interesting to see what changes would be made compared the original DDLC.

Well, if you delete Monika before starting the game, Sayori becomes self-aware from the get go. The result being her freaking out before deleting everyone.
So it stands to reason that she would probably do that.
But then again, that's because she was never self aware before...
If she was self aware the whole time... Now THAT would be interesting.
