She was pretty upset about the whole thing, and also very distressed ! Its halfly because of the disagreement but more so the fact that. Her twin brother, the one shes done everything together with and the ONLY ONE SHE HAS aside from her little sister is , for the first time , not on board with her, she gets fears and thoughts of like what if because i disagree with him hes gonna leave me too , stuff like that

My friends were thinking over it and they wrote them both to be more communicative, so instead of Agate pulling a spear at Copper out of nowhere i the middle of the talk like an ACTUAL PSYCHO and demand a duel right then and there, instead what happened was. They didnt want a duel ! They wanted to talk about it and settle over it like Actual Adults. But then they became the representatives for the pro-barrier + pro-monster debate thats been going on in the entire land, one thig led to another and these people demand that these two settle things the old fashioned way , to please the people and come to a final conclusion to this debate, they decided to battle. But it was less out of any hard feelings and more of the matter of politics
But because these are two traumatized and troubled people you pair against each other, things dont really go the way anyone planned it to , i havent talked about Copper but for the sake of context, hes written to be more of a fawn , a people pleaser because of how hes been expected of so much , that even when it comes to his own sister, he still does thigs to HER benefit even when it came to important political meetings like this . He didnt want to hurt her sister or make her feel terrible from losing, since shes already goimg through so much as is. So
He decided to let her win
She didnt know he did . Not yet at least

Copper was such a fawn hed literally keep his sisters approval over his own decision like my man holy shit, this guy is absolutely messed by his upbringing too

It was kept as a secret from the entire kingdom , Amber was the only one to know about it , but unforunately the kid slipped up somewhere along the way and Agate eventually found out about it and God
It crushed Her
It was the ultimate last straw because she saw it as Copper belittling her too , thinking she was too weak to not win on her own he had to be too Nice and fake it ,
Everybody was right about her, she couldnt even win without her brother taking that chance away from her as he always does

When Copper , while it was a fuck up on his part, was , again , very well intentioned about it. But intentions dont save everything, and it didnt occur to him how badly he screwed this up until Agate confronted him about it

They talked about it at first, at the start it wasnt too bad, then copper said some of the wrong things, sounding innocent to him , but absolutely jabbed at Agates heart because of how humiliated and sensitive she felt , Copper decides they should talk about this again later , when theyre in a much better headspace
But there was no later

Because guess what Agate has exiled herself and ran away for god knows how long
