the trouble with our pianos is that none of them apart from our electrical one were new when we got them...which is why I want your piano! newness!

Yep ... especially the "Douze grandes etudes" (from the early 1830s ) -rewritten in 1853 (I think) because nobody else could play them (with the new name "Etudes transcedental").
This recording by Leslie Howard (Hyperion Records) is the only one I know of (!) -incredible.
... I actually believe that no one else has made any recording of these extremely difficult pieces.
