I love the harsh contrast and tones in this; while it has warm colors, to me it doesn't feel so warm and inviting, more like a scene out of a dream. I love this piece

I found myself listening to a lot of piano music by Liszt just yesterday...

Yep ... especially the "Douze grandes etudes" (from the early 1830s ) -rewritten in 1853 (I think) because nobody else could play them (with the new name "Etudes transcedental").
This recording by Leslie Howard (Hyperion Records) is the only one I know of (!) -incredible.
... I actually believe that no one else has made any recording of these extremely difficult pieces.
