September's Submission for the Endangered Art Project: [link]Common Name: Wallace's golden bird-wing butterfly
Scientific Name: Ornithoptera croesus
Status: Classified as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List.
Threats: Large-scale commercial logging/unsustainable logging in Maluku Islands and insecticides.
The size is 4x6 inches. Done in Watercolor on 140 lb paper. Roughly 3 hours work.
