It wouldn't focus in the slightest. There was fog too, so I think the cold affected my camera's ability to get a proper capture

Oh I see. Sorry to hear that. One trick when my camera can't seem to focus on something, is for me to focus on something else then bring the camera back to the original subject and see if it's focused.  But that might be hard at night.

I do that too. All my tricks and no use, I suppose.
It was foggy and it was affecting the lens. I'm just glad it didn't sustain damage. I had to clean the lens!
