Description Yeah; I'm sure you all knew this was where I was going with the Spurs capturing wild stampeding mechanized-horse-legs subplot. ŠP

Started as a live speedpainting demo at Comikaze last weekend. I'm not really feeling the "epicness" of this one anymore, so I'll just leave it as a design study. For the final version appearing in the comic, I might change some of the proportions like with the bolted-on masthead and those (ugh) feet; I'm always open to suggestions...!

Well, I'm just wondering what would you like to get out of the design? Something more visually entertaining or something more physically plausible? As for the the latter what about balance? The roadrunners from Rango and Gallimimus have larger tails and heads(?). Think about when he stops and rears back on that thing. As for the former, I think you're on the right track. The front mount is a little like those bull horns on the front of a car and I just like the chains.

I might as well go for entertainment. I already designed Spurs with Pixar-y proportions, so it'd be all the funnier if his mount was tiny. XD;

When I first saw this, I thought he'd modified himself into some kind of cyborg. o___o

I really like the chains, oh man. Though maybe the head could be a little bigger to be more... menacing?

Yeah, I had worries Spurs would look ~too~ integrated with his mount, so it's still in development. ŠP

Maybe I should just make it more like an ostrich... but terrifying.

That's great- you may not feel it to be "epic" but the design is great. It's got a real dynamic feel to the pose, too. Little things like the chains really set things off.

Thank you~

It just has to make sense now so I can implement in the comic later...!

Well, it's not like this revelation was going to make or break the story (at least I hope not!) XD;

Ahhhhhhhhhh, crap man, now you make me really want one as a ride-!!! He looks soooo cool, and--wow, as a live speedpainting demo! 8C Wish I could've seen that!

I like it as a design study. I'm looking forward to seeing Spurs ride one in the comic now! I hadn't quite realized that was coming.

Hehe, I'd been cooking it up since 2009, but was still establishing the lore, so to speak.

Seeing Rango in the theater last year, esp. the ".....WE RIDE!" scene, helped rekindle my interest in this particular subplot, not gonna lie.

You've seen Rango right...?

Another obvious influence: chocobos!

Nope!

Yeah, I see that, with the two legs and all.

I didn't!

Wu-oh Pete, y'all 'd better look out!

Mmm, I'm trying to figure out if there's a more practical application for the position of Spur's legs. I see how he can steer it, but not so much how he can make it go. Unless he's using some kind of electro-whip or something?

Maybe Spurs' spurs (lolz) contain a wireless control. I'm reminded of the Cowboy Bebop episode that introduces Faye; she's able to remote pilot her spacecraft with charms on her wrists and ankles, AND THEN ITS NEVER BROUGHT UP AGAIN. XD;

Sci-fi western logic? Sure. I hate it what they write in a really awesome detail and then forget about it. :I

:after reading other comments: Oh goodness, I loved Rango. Rattlesnake Jake was super animation eye-candy for me.

Yeah, they have a whole team of writers and editors...! (erstwhile, I'm just one person, so... plot inconsistencies happen??)

Tryiiiing to get more people to watch eet...!
