In this contemplative piece, the two contrasting images of the same woman boldly confront us with the realities on the sources of our contentment. According to the artist, he had set the images against a picturesque view of the Roman aqueducts to signify the most coveted things that Man equates with happiness. The dark figure of a woman on the left indicates that these makeshift pleasures are neither capable of satiating Man nor save the flesh from deterioration while the singing figure on the right suggests that despite the massive degeneration of the body, some possess an inner self that defies decay brought on by decadent society.

Soo... man flourishes despite his advancements? Yeah, the message is total B.S., but picture looks really good. The female figures look almost like they were photographed and then placed in the picture with effects added to them, just almost. The shading I have to say, is just perfect and skintones are amazing. The background is very well done to, though everything seems almost too geometric and smooth.. and then the reflection under the arch on the right hand side of the picture doesn't look like it really belongs. There's nothing spectacularly flawed about it though, it's just an all around good looking piece, very realistic, lots of skill and talent in this.
