Immediately it's obvious why this piece received a DD. The composition and concept are so well executed. The message is obvious, powerful. The individual photographs themselves posses great composition, edits, and work powerfully together. Wonderful work. Thank you for sharing.

This has feels yo. The perspective is both beautiful and eerie, its so blue and dreary but in way that I like. Β I feel like this photo is either referring to the person wanting suicide or maybe wanting to be free to fly. I'm hoping the latter but since you have this tagged as horror and macabre its probably not. 0_oΒ
Very interesting photo, seeing photos like these make me question why aren't there more photos that invoke such emotions. At least that's what I feel. ^^Β
Nice photo.

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-09-27 00:13:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! I am glad you caught the feels.

It is a mixture of both, I guess. I'm not saying that suicide is freedom, but to many people, it is. It offers people freedom away from life.

For me personally, being able to fly would mean freedom from the gravity of earth pulling us down and keeping us on our feet.

I imagine there are many photos that evoke emotion, but perhaps not that many of this caliber.

Thank you for your comment!

You're welcome.Β
The feels are real!Β
I like to believe the person is just daydreaming about flight. ^^
Well to be honest I've seen a lot of photos and most of them I don't connect to. I don't know if its just because I don't get it or because its done so simply. Like I think before I saw this one, I only felt something for these two other photos. One that's really popular with a poor woman appearing to be in deep thought about her life, and this one with an inbred tiger. Only reason I felt anything for the tiger one was due to the fact that I had known before hand that the tiger, due to being inbred was born with down syndrome and with like a doggy face. ;(
I have a family member who loves photography and she studies it, so that's why I know about some of this. Β Β

The feels are definitely real for me! I'm glad that they're real for you too.

That works.

I guess it depends on how a person approaches photography, both from an artistic side and from a viewer/audience side. Some people put more thought and feeling in photographs than others.

I can appreciate many photographs, but I don't 'resonate' with many of them.

Damn, that sucks. I didn't know tigers could even get down syndrome. =/

Sounds awesome! It helps to increase our exposure, whether it's on DeviantArt or elsewhere.

I know, it sucks that animals can be born with mental problems too. Especially since most animals aren't that bright to begin with, excluding animals like dolphins and I guess apes. That tiger got the short end of the stick man. A lot of photos I don't resonate with either. Maybe I'm stunted... Β nah.Β
Exposure is good.Β

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-10-21 00:10:49 +0000 UTC]

I wonder if animals being born with mental problems is a natural thing, or if we helped it along with everything we're doing to Earth...all the pollution, diseases, etc.

Exposure is good. A site like DeviantArt can really broaden one's mind, just because the variety of art on this site is pretty astounding. Even if a person can't relate or connect to most, they're still being exposed.

So yeah, I agree with what you said.

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-11-02 02:25:47 +0000 UTC]

Β Well, I mean that tiger was inbreed in captivity for whatever wild reason or accident.Β On the subject of animals, the problems animals like those suffer are mostly solved due to the mother killing them off when their young... (0_o) Like the reason we don't see any messed up animals walking around is because their mothers' made sure to examine the batch of kids. Hamsters tend to do this a lot, I like hamsters still but damn they're actually brutal to their own kind! Β (Then again I'm always drawn to the dark side...) I guess you could say...they live the thug life. Β Β
Although humans like us don't help. Like I know whales get TB from humans since humans and whales are both mammals. Dogs get colds and flues from people too, my family's dogs got little flues a while ago. Although I have no idea how because nobody in the household was sick with that. Β

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-11-04 23:09:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh right, I see.

You raise a fair point. There are many reasons why a mother may kill her young. Perhaps the young is too weak to survive, or mentally, it's not all there.

It is odd how diseases spread across species. While we may have influenced other animals, they have likewise influenced us, whether that's mad cow disease, or bird flu or something else.

It's actually important to go through diseases, if only so our immune systems become stronger. Of course, it depends on the disease. Some diseases are best not contracted in the first place.

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-11-07 05:23:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, like RABIES!!!! Although that's actually a virus not a disease.
Oh geez, I'm like all being depressing over here talking about poor animals dealing with that. XD (0_o)
Although some diseases/disorders actually end up helping people in certain ways stranger than you'd think. Like maybe one day they'll find a way to reverse retardation and stuff like that with enough research.
I've been told there's these glasses that exist now meant for colorblind people, due to the inventor having stumbled upon that.

Not at all! If it's the truth, it's the truth. Doesn't mean we have to like it.

Yes, you raise a fair point there. Perhaps there is a silver lining.

That's quite cool! I haven't met many colorblind people, but if they had glasses to help with colors, that'd make a lot of sense to me.

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-11-11 01:57:58 +0000 UTC]

Okay. ^^
I haven't met any either. But like it's interesting the whole concept about vision. How people like us see all the colors of the rainbow. Bats see in black and white, dogs see toned down colors mostly, and I think bees see in ultraviolet. Which I think is pretty cool, imagine seeing in UV? Maybe if people are bored enough, we'll have UV glasses.Β  Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-11-15 01:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, indeed. Apparently, women see more colours than men.

It seems as if insects see a lot more in terms of colour and stuff?

Well, I see in infrared because I have an infrared converted camera. A person can also convert their camera to UV, as well, I think.

Say what?! Women are the chosen ones! Β
What do you mean by that? That's an actual thing? I've heard too that men hear higher tones whereas women hear in bass tones for some reason. Pff, whatever.
Oh yeah and that's true, the camera would have that function. UV's pretty cool.
So how's infrared? Is that suppose to be red tinted? I don't really know for sure, hmm.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-11-19 00:25:26 +0000 UTC]

Women are the chosen ones for many things!

Who knows whether it is real or not. That said, there are a lot of differences between men and women. For example, women have more grey matter (I think?) than men, so they are able to make more/interesting connections and all sorts.

Yes, infrared is red tinted, but once you adjust the colours in post-processing by swapping the red and blue channel, things can get pretty awesome. I mainly shoot in infrared now, so my gallery has a lot of pieces.

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-11-20 06:59:57 +0000 UTC]

Hmm...odd indeed.Β
Supposedly men are dying out and women are going to remain and either become asexual or breed with apes.Β Β
Now as a human I hope we just become asexual, because if we have to depend on monkeys to continue our species that's just a serious regression. Not only that but like what about the poor apes? Won't their species become messed up as well? I mean humans would be like using them and like ugh.Β
But yeah they within each generation of people, the Y chromozone-(or whatever ) cannot repair itself so it keeps shrinking. Meaning that males won't be here forever. Β Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-11-22 00:41:57 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't be surprised if men are dying out. Everyone I know, who has recently given birth, gave birth to a girl, not a boy.

I think there is more chance that we'll take sperm from the surviving male race and impregnate women scientifically, rather than breeding with apes or remaining asexual. After all, there are a lot of sperm banks around, and sperm can survive for a while.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-11-22 01:02:54 +0000 UTC]

That's another one it mentioned too but like seriously if our human bodies are doing this, I assume we'll evolve and become asexual or maybe we'll naturally clone ourselves like the hydras!! (By the way the hydra I'm mentioning is a real sea critter like this Hydra (genus) - Wikipedia
Like if you look at the animal kingdom, you see how animals slowly change overtime, due to mutations and strange things like that. Although funny you point out that about the birth thing, like my mother points out she mostly sees females more than males. So hmm, we won't live to see it but those in the future will, so who knows.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-11-23 23:30:45 +0000 UTC]

It's a sign of nature if no males are born, and we can only get males through science or something else. I would say that's a sign that the human race should die. Ultimately, if we were to go to the sperm bank and do it scientifically, we would only be putting a bandage on the symptom and prolonging the inevitable as we do. We wouldn't be dealing with the cause.

We have sort of changed slowly over time. There are parts of our bodies that we no longer have need of, such as the tailbone, or the appendix, etc.

Yeah, sometimes it feels like the world is just going downhill, regardless of what we do.

I heard that the reason more and more girls are being born is because of plastic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-11-27 05:54:57 +0000 UTC]

Plastic eh?
REVENGE ON PLASTIC! I'm kidding, but there's also the fact people's bodies are maturing faster thanks to hormones, so there's that affecting us all too.
True about the fact the inevitable is just the inevitable. So who knows.
Me and my mom were saying too, what's it even matter if our species lasts forever? We all die eventually, soo what's the real deal here? One day other critters will be researching our bones like we research the dinosaurs .
Since I'm into writing I just hope maybe theseΒ future critters will be able to appreciateΒ what we think of as art and stories. Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-11-29 00:52:40 +0000 UTC]

I have heard theories about our bodies maturing faster, but way back when, we had girls giving birth to girls, so I'm not sure if that's actually different, scientifically speaking, or if it's something else.

Well, it's a species' biological imperative to survive. Abstractly, we may be all zen about it, but if we get down to our biology, I wouldn't exactly say that. >.>

I am sure they will, in the same way that we appreciate a cave man's paintings on the rock face.

Pheenixorphan In reply to 3wyl [2016-12-01 01:57:03 +0000 UTC]

They better. Β
Also back than girls had to have babies when they were like 15 just because everyone believed that women were fertile for only so long. See, even then they were crazy!Β  Β
But whatever...people were just confused too so meh.Β
Who knows maybe humans will be low on men for a bit, then suddenly they spike up again. Nature's unpredictable so I wouldn't be surprised if that happened later on. But boy wouldn't that be weird how if everybody's asexual, how so many people born will look similar? Like I wonder how that'd work out. Β Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Pheenixorphan [2016-12-06 00:12:07 +0000 UTC]

Back then, the survival rate wasn't that great. People died in their 40s or 50s, so they'd have their children young. Now, with people living to their 80s and onwards, a lot of people have their kids later.

I think, at the time itself, it made sense. As a person who hasn't experienced that time, it may be confusing for us, but it probably wasn't for them.

You are right that nature is unpredictable. The world could do a complete flip, so that there is more men and fewer women.

Most likely it would be in contention with the robots and everything else.
