Description This piece was taken at the London Book Fair , Kensington Olympia, with a fisheye lens.

As I was an assistant for an independent publishing house that was exhibiting at the Fair, I managed to get in before the opening time of 9am, hence why there are only a few people walking around. Rest assured that when doors opened at 9am, there were thousands of people.

There were also a lot of exhibitors - exhibitors are the ones with the little square plots of land to themselves. You can just make out the famous 'Bloomsbury'; Bloomsbury was situated among many other famous publishing houses like Penguin, Simon & Schuster, etc.

You can just see the staircase that I was on. There were two floors full of exhibitors. The independent publishing house that invited me to this event didn't have a plot as big as the ones here. In fact, they only had 1/4 of the one right beside the man and it cost them Β£1500, so who knows how much a plot like Bloomsbury's cost (4x1500=?!).

Quite an amazing experience, nevertheless. I honestly felt like I was in a maze myself when I walked around.

I really love the perspective of this shot, the slight tilt effect helps make it, even more, mind boggling and despite the aerialΒ view still manages to keep the whole area still confusing. That place looks lovely and overall.

Dang! I'm only a little jealous. (Ok, I'm totally jealous!) That's awesome! Did any less known publishing houses stick out to you? Or were they all kind of similar?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to LouisFriedman [2017-05-17 23:26:37 +0000 UTC]

How come?

Well, I was invited to go as part of a lesser-known publishing house, but they tend to be independent, rather than the huge giants like Bloomsbury, Simon & Schuster, etc.

It depends on what you mean by 'similar'. The lesser-known ones are more individualized, specializing in certain topics, while the huge giants were like one another.

Wow! Thank goodness books exist- I mean outside of my place Love the shot!
I have had my lower level flooded 3 times, lots of book deaths, but for some reason I still have way too any books. They are stacked 2 or 3 deep on every shelf, in cupboards, under things, on top of things..maybe they breed late at night

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to jules-101 [2015-07-04 12:51:45 +0000 UTC]

A lot of books exist! It's difficult to really envision the amount of books there are out there.
Β
Oh, that really sucks. I have recently had a flood (of sorts) myself and it ruined a few things too. It is a real shame when it happens.

That's intense though!

jules-101 In reply to 3wyl [2015-07-04 22:05:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah- it does suck. I didn't even report it to the insurance comp. last time , I was afraid they would cancel me. So I just bought used furniture & stuff. Book breeding -I think that might possibly be a little bit true
