Well keep at it my friend, I took a hell of a lot of photos of honeybees before I got this one - still, I have a new macro lens now so I'm looking forward to shooting some insects this year!

I'd like to see it! I remember taking a pic of a bumblebee with a digital compact about 4 years ago now, it took up a tiny amount of the pic but it was in focus and I was chuffed, a couple of years later it seemed a bit lacking... You have to raise the bar for yourself as you go along, don't you? I used a Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro. I have a new macro - the 100mm IS L, needed a new one because my new camera body is full-frame and so won't work with the EF-S. Looking forward to the new few months worth of bees & such Thanks for your kind words!

That's my bee Not as good as your photo though, but I'll get there! I know exactly what you mean, I remember taking some photos about two years ago and thinking that they were amazing, now they're not even good enough in my eyes to get onto DeviantART!

And I've heard amazing things about that lens, I was actually looking at it recently for when I can afford to get a full frame camera too, but at the moment im stuck with my 400D!

Beautiful bumble bee pic. Mine is here [link] they're tough creatures to shoot though, especially since they never sit still. I envy those people who live near mantids. I'd so love to shoot some of them. You seen that guy Blepharopisis' work? Amazing, truly. I have a 400D, my main back up body at the mo. Thanks for your kind words, I intend to make a real effort for macros in the summer months - maybe visit an apiary, huh? Hmmm...
