Description First in the ranks see Joan of Arc advance,
The scourge of England and the boast of France!
Though burnt by wicked Bedford for a witch,
Behold her statue plac'd in glory's niche;
Her fetters burst, and just releas'd from prison,
A virgin phoenix from her ashes risen.

George Gordon Noel Byron, Lord Byron (1788 – 1824)

This is nice. It makes me think of an alien spaceship.

Wow simply amazing. I love the phoenix rising from the ashes. I also like the colors you have chosen. They are light, pure and feminine. Well done indeed.

I've always loved the work of Byron. I would say this is one of his least well known, but when I became aware that I'd created the image of a phoenix, it sprang to mind.

That is the greatest thing about fractal art...it's like looking at an ink blot...the eye sees what is sees. For me, I saw this incredible, otherworldly shell chamber. It's very beautiful

And you are very right about that not being one of his more well-know pieces..since i had never heard it before today...and I would have said I'd read almost all of his work. So that's another nice thing about it!

It's an extract from a long and rather biting early satirical piece called "English Bards and Scotch Reviewers" which he wrote to express his distaste of the romantic school and his displeasure at a negative review. In fact, the original text which this brief piece refers to is an epic poem by Robert Southey. As a romantic poet, Southey is a target of Byron's distaste. However, in attempting (succesfully) to belittle Southey, Byron composed a few lines that have stayed with me for years.

Thank you so much, Ashley. And thank you for adding this to your favourites. As for releasing it as a print, I've been considering which of my work to make available in that form, so thanks for making my mind up about one of them!

Here I see two eagles, one in the center and one on the right, resting on a tree while looking straight. And the yellow touch represents their feathers!
Quite mountain-related, thus. France has a lot of mountains as well.
