Taken this evening while tracking a very large pack of wild mustang horses. Upon hiking back to my truck via the road shown here I couldn't help but notice the evenings last light and hoped my camera would pick it up. I was happy my new rig was able to capture the deep colors of what was an incredible sunset. Hope you enjoy and look forward to sharing much more from tonights adventure.©2007 Larry Akins. She is doing much better actually, still in the hospital though. 15 days on life support man... it was scary, but she's superwoman eh?

Hmmm rig I think I might have made a mistake honestly. When with Nikon D80 and starting to think I should have gone with a Canon. Remember hearing someone say Canon equals you Can take a good picture and that sure seems to be true at this point. Judging from your latest I would say Canon sure looks damn good to me. My biggest issue is sharp 100% focus or should I say getting things in perfect focus. More then likely just a setting and user error though.

I will not argue with you on the fact that Canons are very nice cameras.
But Nikon's are excellent as well
What lenses are you using, when it comes to sharpness the biggest deciding factor is in the lens. there are also a few techniques i use to enhance sharpness in post processing.
If you have enough light and the action is slow enough try stopping down, the saying goes everything is great at F8 consumer grade lenses especially get a huge bump in sharpness by stopping down to f8.
With the D80 you will be able to use Raw... learn how to use it, Raw is sooo powerful in comparision to jpeg manipulation in what you can do with it.
And dont give up, photography is a life time prusit i have been chasing images since I was 14 and I am just beginning to get to the point where i feel like my work is of any value :-p

Yeah it was almost like end of the world looking stuff. Weird but very pretty as well. Funny as I did not edit it in Photoshop at all and was indeed the true color. I know if I saw that back in Chicago I might have thought some just got nuked lol.
