Agreed. I was very fortunate to spend the day, however, in the barns of a leading North American trainer and there wasn't a single dead-eyed horse in his barn. I've never seen an entire barnful of better looking horses, physically and mentally fit, anywhere ever. I was thoroughly impressed with his racing stable. That the man could tell his two-year-old grandson, "hey go get the lead chain and halter from the tack room for Zoose, he's up next", and the toddler ACTUALLY toddled over to the tack room, found the correct set of gear for that specific horse and then toddled over to the exact stall for the exact horse to hang it up on the exact hook told me this was a great operation...even the two year old baby knew every single horse (and there were DOZENS) and its tack (and this at a racetrack they'd only been at for a week so far), and every horse knew him. These were seriously athletic competitive animals, and yet every single one was eager to get kisses and pose for a camera. I know all barns aren't like this, but most that I've been privileged to be around are. Especially in quarter horse racing where trainers are often owners and breeders as well and care a great deal about their charges.
