Description A memorial race was run this afternoon for the first time and it saw the entire field make a mad dash to the wire where only a few inches separated them all...he would have loved it.

This one made the cover of an auction catalogue, which was a nice surprise.Β

You can see the intensity of the jockeys and the determination of the horses to get to the wire first. Awesome shot of some awesomely amazing horses.

I snapped some good pictures of jockeys when I was going to Del Mar or Santa Anita back in the 80's. I always took pics of the jockeys, rarely the horses.

My favorite thing about this photo is the fourth horse with the purple head jacket thing. I didn't even notice him at first. Once I did, I realized how crammed that photo finish really was!

Ah you caught that! Β  I have to go back to the frames from that race, it's very likely I have a shot that's even more crammed...this was just before the wire, but I still had a few more fractions caught in between this and the wire itself.Β  Crazy.
