“Sentinel I” Pencil on Arches Hot Press Watercolor Paper 24” x 30”
A lone tree standing in its winter nakedness, keeping vigil.
The complexity of this form was amazing the overlapping of branches, the rhythm and composition drew me to this lone tree. Void of background gives power to negative space brings simplicity to this very complicated form.
The drawing took around 500 hours give or take, it’s the smallest of the tree series. here is a detail of the image Thank you for looking

As someone who is trying to define some of my drawings more realistically, THIS is really inspiring. Love your work and I've always been afraid to post. But trees are some of my favorite subject matter (I just feel overwhelmed when drawing them).

been a long time Mike, yeah ive been much more interested in things that are "simple" in concept at least ....but its all about texture and composition no social or politic agenda, at least none i know of

Aside from the fact that this looks absolutely amazing, with the ridiculous amount of detail, I just have to respect your patience with a piece like that!
