I've started learning pixel art and I have a question; how do you begin the piece? Do you do a sketch or the base silhouette or?

I start off on a 50x50 (because I hate resizing)
And just sketch everything that I'm going to do.
It's easier to do a rough sketch of it, then outline it in a darker color.
Then off of the darker color, you can pretty much have your lineart! :'D
I usually just do that, and then add the colors and junk.
