Description Moses says we must be readyΒ Β
staff in hand though it is late.
We are leaving here tomorrow
with our shoes on, we must wait.

Take a lamb for every family.
Kill it there beside the door.
Put the blood on posts and lentil.
Staff in hand same as before.

Bread unleavened, roasted lamb,
and bitter herbs upon the plate,
dressed and ready sandals on,
staff in hand we eat and wait.

Midnight comes, and we are singing,
staff in hand same as before.
All the children dressed and ready
sleeping quietly by the door.

Something passes outside, feel it.
Something we've not seen before,
and there follows wails, and mourning
staff in hand behind the door.

Hear our master's voices calling
staff in hand we rise and fly.
"Take your flocks your herds and children
leave us now before we die".

By the dieing of the first born
chains are broken we are free.
By the blood that hyssop sprinkled
this curse has passed over me.
