Great job on this- this was one of my favorite scenes. I loved every moment of Veil back-talking Swartt!

I always wished Outcast of Redwall had a different ending. I mean, for a story named after Veil, they really made him out to be a minor character.
One of the many times were I was left more then dissatisfied with Brian Jaques' work.
This is a great drawing.

Heck yeah! Veil's one of my favourite characters from the series. The fact that his character raised to many ethical questions makes him heroic in my eyes, and really got me to thinking about whether Redwall was as accepting of outsiders as its inhabitants claimed.

That's another reason why Veil was so awesome. And it sucked that he died. Though I do believe he wasn't completely evil. There was good in him.

Exactly - there WAS good in him. It just took a serious enough situation for it to show itself.
It's definitely tragic that he died, but it's both tragic and disgusting how Bryony does an about-turn on her viewpoint on Veil in the end. All that time, she was sure there was some good in him, and when he proves her right and dies in doing so, what does she say? "You were right, Bella. Veil was bad."
And she's made an abbess for that? I'd be questioning her mental stability, not giving her absolute power!

I know. I was pissed off and angry at Bryony for that!
Veil dies for her. The least she could do is honor his memory. If he was evil all the way, he wouldn't have even bothered to help her the first time when Swarrt grabbed her.
Veil smacks Swartt which makes him let go of Bryony. Swartt and Veil then got into a brawl that ends when Swartt pushes Veil to the ground. When Swarrt then aims the spear at Bryony, Veil tries to defend her and attempts to stop Swartt. In that attempt, Veil accidentally gets speared instead.
Bryony said that she didn't know if Veil would have jumped in front of her even if he knew his father was really going to throw the spear.
The thing is, he tried to defend her and help her escape. Even in his dying moments he had no regrets about that and told her to return to Redwall.
Someone ought to tell Bryony that.

Okay I'm fine now. I still have the work in its file so that I can go back to it. Should I still add the red?
Oh, thanks!

I don't know which version I like better, your's or cybercatmia's. Both are so good yet so different.
I like the accuracy of all the details you've given, that's very nice. You forgot to add in the extra vermin that were present, but then again, they aren't really needed after all, so don't let us worry about that.
You did a VERY good job with the backgroud, a lot better than I could do.
My only main complaint are the body proportions - but that's something that every artist (including myself) has had some trouble with, and we can only continue drawing to become better.
Also, I don't think the moment where Swartt and Veil first meet is one of dislike. Curiosity, yes, but I don't think there was dislike.
Rather, I think it was more of a gaurded moment, because neither are very affectionate creatures, plus Veil set out to find his father, probably thinking he'd bond with Swartt and the two of them would take the horde to conquer Redwall, so I don't agree it was a disliking moment.
However, as the two remained in each other's company, that's when the dislike began to settle in. Veil began to feel contempt for his newfound father, and he began to see why everybeast at Redwall hated him, so... yeah.
But anyway, lecture over, great pic! Rock on!
