Very cool Rocketeer! I'm open to a new film, but I have my doubts that it'd be as good as the original.

It depends, they could hire the same director, Joe Johnston, as he is still doing some work with Disney; he was the one who directed Captain America: The First Avenger and that had a similar tone. As long as they have a good script and take their time I think it's possible, might even make more money than the first as the original wasn't a big success for the company, of course Tron wasn't a big hit either but it still got a sequel and an animated TV show based on it's cult status.
Personally I am interested to see what they do.

You're right, of course. But to a certain extent I thought the original was just such an inspired piece of work (it should have done much better at the BO), and it had the added benefit of Dave Stevens being actively involved. Much like the 1980 Flash Gordon (I know, not everyone's cup of tea) it just captured the vibe of the source material perfectly.

I'm not sure how different it will be, it will most likely be pretty close, but not exactly, especially since the current rumor is that they are looking to have a female protagonist.
