I like your approach of exposing the joints. It might seem odd on a battlefield but it does a lot to remind the viewer that this isn't a person, with the white-space leaking into the joints. The knees especially, make me think of Asimo.
On the chest -- they're styled like intakes, but are they boosters or something?
Articulation on the arms seems like it might be a problem. The trick is with the human biceps brachii muscle is that because it isn't a solid mass, it can shift and be squeezed away from the joint. Machines don't really have that benefit since instead of being flowing weaves of material, they're solid husks -- but you knew that.
The lack of a proper toe or heel means when this thing walks, its going to 'walk like its shit itself' if it doesn't articulate like we do and won't posess any running ability.
While the foot looks like a single flat, its four major parts: the toes (metatarsel bones & phalanges, which serve as a sort of spring-loaded shock absorber), the cuboid, navicular and talus which are like a mounting point and the calcaneus which is a stabilizing heel. If you look at olympic runners, the heel never meets the ground. The force of the landing is absorbed through the tendon assembly of the digitorum set along with the rest of the leg then fed back to provide the next push when sprinting.
A cool concept might be a retractible heel, allowing the thing to 'stand' on this sort of stance... Then akin to the same way the knee-locks on ED209 signify its stable to stand and lock its position, the heels flip down and the thing stands normally.
Just shooting the shit here (which is incredibly fun in and of itself). If you get the chance, look at what all the muscles in the legs and spine do next time you design a machine. You'll be shocked by how little of it is effectively emulated with pistons and emulated socket joints. The body is a very beautiful and sophisticated machine.
Your work is beautifully rendered, as always.
