# About me
Someone who likes art, music, traveling, languages, and Old Europe, particularly Berlin.Growing up in Ukraine and the US, the early years of my life were filled with travel. Every single adventure did its part to create my fascination with languages, world cultures, and history. This resulted in an insatiable wanderlust.
The magic of the pencil first captured my heart when I was 13 and is the root of my creative endeavors. I have been drawing portraits for the last decade and in the past couple of years began to see that art is more than just a hobby.
I currently live in California and am in a constant state of cabin fever.
In the emotions that I capture and portraits I create, I try to evoke thoughts and memories of hidden places that define who we are, memories, forgotten traditions and techniques.
things that inspire:
archaic (and living cultures)
Old Europe
charcoal
wanderlust
pin up style
graffiti
abandoned relics
deserts
loud music
things that grow
cobblestone
the list goes onβ¦

Cool! I saw your WIP! I guess I was asking whether you like to use color in your drawings. Is it something you like to do or was it just an experiment for a few drawings? Is it a big transition for you between graphite and color pencils?

UtiliaMignano In reply to yelenka [2012-11-03 12:31:04 +0000 UTC]
Thanks Yelenka! Yes, you're right, it is difficult to switch to color for those who use graphite, even though I really love the colors. For this reason, I'm approaching it up, I start with small areas, hoping one day to make a drawing good enough to be able to post here on DA. I hope that answers your question.
^^.

haha nice my reason for asking was sentimental - I'm originally from RI - we'd traipse around Hyannis during the summer, and that was our favorite place to start our whale watching trips

I have such great memories myself but I got a scholarship in Florida when I was 17 and haven't really returned since!
