Summer break already started for me, and to kick it off I got a gingivectomy. Fun. c: So I've really just been laying down and trying not to throw up. And trying to fend off a sudden burrito craving. o.o

I've been a vegan for... I think about seven months now? I've been wanting to do it for a long time now, but I was always too nervous of what my parents would think. They think I'm insane, but I've since stopped caring. xD

I've thought about being a vegan, but I don't think I can because I'm allergic to some fruits and vegetables. :/ I have been a vegetarian since I was about one and a half though... My mother made me pork, and I immediately demanded 'What is it?' To which she responded with 'It's... pork, honey.' I glared and repeated 'No... what WAS it?' 'A pig?' I shoved the plate away and said 'I no eat,' and I have been a vegetarian ever since then. /unnecessary backstory

Eh, I think "enjoy" is a bit of an overstatement, on account of family dinners are pretty much impossible now and cooking class is a total nightmare. :/ But yes, I do feel a lot better about myself; I didn't think I'd last more than a couple of weeks, and now it's like, "good Lord, I used to EAT that stuff?!?!" xD It's actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, much to my surprise; the first few weeks were a bit tricky, but I quickly got the hang of it.

What? If you're not giggling with glee as you eat your vegetables, you're doing something wrong. :3
But yes, after I sent that, I did stop and think that 'enjoy' was a strange word to use. And yes... family meals are terrible, especially when you've run out of all the food you can eat. Gah. Eating in restaurants is pretty bad, too, because I can only eat two or three things on the menu, and I can't do much about it if I don't like any of the options... anyway, cooking class definitely sounds bad.
But I'm glad to see that you like it. c:

It's not so much that it's hard to find anything to eat, but rather my family seems to think that anything made with vegan-friendly ingredients is some sort of abomination. :/ And don't even get me started on restaurants- I went out for dinner with my parents for Mother's Day and had to order my meal with practically half of the ingredients left off. xD Hence why I cook practically all my meals now; every vegan for them self, I guess...
But yes, it's definitely worth it, I'd say; I feel a lot healthier now than I did before. :3

I have an uncle like that... he always asks why I don't just make it easier and eat meat. It gets pretty annoying...
Has anyone tried to sneak meat/dairy/honey into your food yet? There was someone at my church who constantly spoke about how he wouldn't rest until he watched me eat a steak (of all the things to spend your day worrying about...), and at one of out church meals he actually told me to go eat the salad he had prepared, then jokingly said that he put bacon in it, just because he hoped that I would eat it. I was wondering whether or not he was joking so inspected the salad, and saw that there were tiny pieces of bacon that I wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't mentioned them. o.o

Oh wow, that's mean. ._. Thankfully I haven't had that happen to me yet (at least not to my knowledge), although I am guilty of doing the opposite of that to my brother on numerous occasions. He won't eat any of his favourite dishes if he knows I've replaced the eggs and/or milk with vegan substitutes (because he insists "it will ruin the flavour"), so I always sneak them in when he's not looking and he never tastes the difference. x3 I giggle to myself every time...

Just out of curiosity, have you ever eaten meat before?

He did fast from meat a few months after that, realized how hard it is to not eat it (considering that meat is basically all that people eat for every meal nowadays), and hasn't bothered me about it since then. So that's nice.

That's funny. x3 My family is the complete opposite of that, though; sometimes my sister will even beg me to give her some of my facon. And, for example, they have no problem with eating meat substitute in shepherd's pie.

And I have eaten meat before; I ate fish and chicken nuggets until I was about five. I don't remember why I ate fish... I think that I knew it was meat and felt guilty about it, but ate it anyway, until I realized that I couldn't call myself a vegetarian and still eat fish.
As for chicken nuggets, I had no idea that they actually have chicken in them. They look nothing like a chicken, so I reasoned that there was no way that they could be made of them and as a result I could eat them. xD At the time, I thought that the inventors decided that 'nugget' was too plain and added 'chicken' to the beginning for aesthetic purposes. xD

I didn't really find it that hard to give up meat, personally. Meat's okay and all, but really it's just the marinade and seasoning that makes it so popular; after you've absorbed all the flavour, you're just left with this weird stringy chunk of animal in your mouth. :/ That and pink slime...
