I do not want any of my images used as they are copyrighted and I only will do business as long as I get paid royalities and design fees under contract, like I said, if you wish to commission a design from me for your company, I will be glad to do that, however, I do not allow use of my personal images, especially characters, for anything unless under my own name.
If you need some help or advice I can give that also because right now I see a lot of copyright issues happening, you are asking people to give designs for free for use while I assume you make the profit but are you planning on paying any of these artists for the shirts sold or paying them a lump fee for the rights to the design? I think its very bad business just to ask artists to give their work for free for commercial purposes unless they are really getting something out of it, if people want to do it just for the publicity that is on them but some of us are really advent in pursuing careers in art, so it is our job, therefore we expect compensation for our work.
Also offering 5 free product prints really isn't a good offer when a lot of us already own our own stores or warehouses and can do that on our own. I am not trying to sound harsh, just giving you practical business advice, if you really want to make your business work, buying designs from artists would be the way to go, you have to spend money to make money. Plus if you buy original designs from artists to use, you can print the image on any product you want without worrying about copyright issues as you would have bought the rights to print that image.
By asking for designs for free, you're also going to get a lot of artists worried since there have been cases of people taking artwork and printing them on t-shirts and selling them without the artist knowledge whether the artist was asked and said no but then turned around and did it or didn't ask at all. Its nothing against you personally, but its a precaution.
You seem like a nice person since you actually asked politely so I just wanted to give you the advice, its not only to protect the artist but to protect you as well because if an artist says yes but then turns around and tries to sue you, having a contract and payment recipt can show that you have the rights to print the image. Always keep everything in writing and contract, especially when dealing with international transactions.

We fully understand the hardship and passion you put in your works that's why we are asking your permission if you can allow us to use them to print on shirts. We also understand that some of you may not agree on us or may not let us to use your design so we respect your decisions.
We would likely to send you a free shirt w/ your design on it as a payment for your kindness. You can always say no to our proposal and we will still love your works.
We just have hope that you would also understand.. "We dont want to hurt anyone. We just want to make happy shirts."
