Thanks to the wonderful =supremextreme (who supplied me with the appropriate links) I had the pleasure of hearing one of my favorite pieces by Schumann ( Sehr inning und nicht zu rasch ) played by yourself. It was interpreted with the kind of sensitivity and intuitive virtuosity that the composer himself would certainly have appreciated. Thank you for sharing it.
All the best in your upcoming competition

I have been so swept away by your music. It's difficult to put in words, but I shall try. You are quite the passionate rascal. Your playing has brought to the fore so many memories and thoughts of what I was taught about what it really means to be talented. What we strive for personally, what drives us to perform and how we try to relay to others the deep reasoning and humanity in music, are thoughts that you made me reach for. So many young people take for granted the gifts that they have. It is obvious because of what you do and how you do it, that your life has been all about the possibilities of your great talent. Since I know you went to PCS, I also know that many hours when others of your age were out and about doing things that youngsters do, you were sitting, dedicated to your craft. I am as sure that it is satisfying to you as I am of the air I breathe, because that emotion and love for the piano flies from your heart, through your fingers and out to the world. What a blessing. I can only congratulate you and hope that you understand that mere words are but an inkling of what I feel in hearing you play. The truth is, music is what compels me to do so many things. It has always been that way with me. It's as much a part of me as loving and giving and being. It is a great honour to hear you play and one I am so appreciative of. I know your parents are so immensely proud of you. I wish you continued success at Julliard and throughout your marvelous career. I also wish you fun and balance and love in your life and hope you achieve whatever you strive for. One thing that I want you to know about Manny that always sticks in my head, is that all of the greatness of his talent and wonder of his knowledge was always equalled by his sweet heart and fun loving personality. A nice guy, full of laughter, always willing to help others. He was always at the middle of some prank or other, with a gleam in his eye, but never mean spirited. The rest will go with me to my grave. ha!

That is such an amazing and sweet message. Thank you so much. Manny knew my former teacher, Ed Aldwell, and i had dinner with Manny last year. You're absolutely correct, that he has that gleam in his eye. He STILL has that gleam even though I don't think he plays quite as many pranks any more. Do you still stay in touch with him?
Do you come to NY? Have you visited the new PCS yet? they've been doing renovations the past year and i try to go visit them at least once a year. They're such nice people there, and have a wonderful group of kids as well. The only one there that was somewhat close to my time that is a famous musician was Midori, and the chemistry teacher used to tell me to stop tapping on the table, because "midori used to do it" and it used to drive her crazy! I guess us musicians are more similar than different
Thank you so much for the wonderful message. I'm sorry i wasn't able to get back to you earlier - i was in indianapolis, and then i was in Miami, and didn't have internet access in either place.

You're very welcome, and I understand, I know you are busy. Not a problem. I'm glad to hear Manny has that wonderful gleam still. I haven't been in touch, but I would love to write him. How amazing that you can travel the world and have your life and still reach out to the places you came from. I will definitely go to PCS and see how everyone is doing the next time I'm there. They were so lovely to me and I'm really proud to have been there.
I love New York so; I will always go back if I am able. I go fairly often on business or to see my dad. It's still home and there's really no place like it anywhere in the world. I'm so pleased that you took the time to write me back; isn't it wild how we have made the internet so much a part of all of our lives and depend on it for so many things?
So true about the similarities. That makes me smile. Take care, and cheers. Susaye
