Ooops...hit the wrong button and deleted your message about the bush tits...I got them to eat out of my hand(actually off a spoon I was holding): The miracle ingredient? Peanut butter! They love the stuff so much it makes me wonder how they got along before we invented it.

Really? I never tried it with them. When the tanagers showed up last spring(desperate for food because the late snows had eliminated their usual sources)I put out peanut butter and grape jelly which they ate up almost as fast as I could put it out for them. They also taught me to put out orange halves which, as it turned out, also attract butterflies.

Over here we have hummingbirds visit sometimes and they like pinecones with peanut butter and cereal

I am told that I should put out bananas to attract bugs for the hummingbirds to eat.

We seem to get enough bugs without any help from me....so I'll just put out the nectar feeders and let the little guys find their own bugs.
