If you're local I'll give lessons. If not, there are already plenty of tutorials online.

You are getting this because you are watching me and I have reviewed your gallery (and am watching you back). I just wanted to say that, as for the past while I have been doing reviews of people's galleries, I am planning to come back and review yours when I am finished reviewing everyone else. I will continue to view and remark on the works you submit, but once I have finalized the list of people I am keeping on my watch, I will be going back and reviewing your gallery again, this time more closely (I left way too many "The words just aren't coming to me" comments).
Just a friendly warning for the future.
Best wishes,
Jon

So because I end up leaving comments here a little too often perhaps I went through and read the whole of the commentary on your page, I'm glad I'm not alone in realizing how incredible your help has been. I'm glad to know you.
So, the real reason I'm here. I'm sitting at work eating my "Unsalted Aloha Mix" and am impressed with the implied number of sunflowers and almond farms you have in Hawaii. Not to mention whatever these little orange thingers are. Yup Yup Yup. That's all.
Hope you're doing well. Oh, and I've finished some editing, which I've put up on a new website I'm making for a gentleman in London and myself to showcase our work in a less casual setting. I'll be reposting those pieces on DA soon. And, as anyone wandering by your page would be able to guess, 3/4 of them were greatly improved by your help. I don't wanna make you blush or nothing, but you're a freakin' hero. When telling friends and family about the status of my writing I say "Well I just finished going over the children's story with my editor..." Hopefully someday I'll really be able to write either my personal novel or Arrogance, and I'll be able to pay you to go through it.
Anyway, this is getting a little long. Though, I have created a curiosity for myself. If you're using a plural noun, such as Children, in a possesive form, does the apostrophe still follow the "s"? or does it precede it? Because we already know that children is the plural of child, so theoretically we don't need to imply it further with the successive apostrophe. Hmmmmm...I'll have to look this up I suppose.
(So much for stopping myself before it got too long )

I was always amazed by the number of raisins included in the tropical blend dried fruit. The little orange things are usually sulfur encrusted balls of yellow 6 that have been coated with sugar and occasionally have some papaya thrown in.
The apostrophe goes before the "s". It's only placed after the "s" in cases where putting it in front would change the meaning of the word. A more confusing question would be, "what's the plural of mongoose?" The common forms would be mongeese or mongooses. We could go for the latin and say mongoosi or just use may personal favorite polygoose. Of course if we have a very very large number of them, we could just combine them all and say polygeesies. Just don't try saying it three times really fast.
Thanks for the editing praise. And to think, I actually ended up with a 54% for the semester in one of my high school grammar classes.

So, my favourite author had an excellent point: Often, when we use Latine plurals, they are not directly from the latin. The things we apply them too are too modern for the classic world, and therefor have no business carrying Latin structure.
Also, on another note, I'm getting tired of "pled" and "snuck" not being words. Our language evolves, can we drop the pretense and adopt them into newsprint already??
Hope that yahoo is also your email, otherwise note me with it.

spamwolf In reply to Astrophel [2004-05-24 18:34:26 +0000 UTC]
I have to agree about the Latin plurals but only to a certain extent. Many of the modern words with Latin plurals have Latin roots. It's those roots that are being pluraled (how about that for a word)
I just like mangling language in every way conceivable. Just ask my girlfriend how I do on the Japanese words she gives me (after she gets done cringing).
"Pled" and "snuck" not words? I don't think I've heard that before. They appear in the books I read, and I am comfortable using them in my writing. I say go for it.

Astrophel In reply to spamwolf [2004-05-26 03:34:03 +0000 UTC]
yup, pled and snuck are not standard words. They are slang. As Jennifer Garner said to Conan O'Brian when discussing "Alias": "Snuck is not a word. You went to Harvard, you know that."
and every day in the paper I read about how someone or other "Pleaded guilty"
I mean, they're right, but really...

check out spamwolf dot com (no energy for proper linking, and I hate the [link] thing when the name matters) [link] (reconsidered as I just mentioned the name, and then figured why make you bother just because of my laze?) where did you come up with it?
Oh, and basically it's an anti-spam email development project. Creating the most effective filter ever sorta deal.

Just so you know I saved and value every one of those comments you gave me. I took them down because normally I wouldn't put up a part of my novel that I wasn't at least comfortable with, and it was driving me nuts to have it out there. However, you took me at face value and your commentary showed me a lot I wouldn't have expected. Thank you for your continued help and support.

So, I've been reading your writing at work all day today. About seven hours in (I can only read little bits between files loading) DA was mysteriously banned by my work. anyhow. We're not allowed to maintain cookies on our computers for various reasons and so I cannot log in, only browse. So, now I have come back to comment. Many thanks for your help with my work.

Welcome back, I've been a ignoring DA for a while too. I got so fascinated by LJ when I joined there that I stopped with a lot of my other online interests.
When I am going to get to read something new?
Good luck and say hi anytime.

Well, I did it. I reviewed your gallery, though sadly I didn't comment on all your work; I wanted to, but at times the words just didn't want to come. Such is life.
I really admire you as a writer and wish you nothing but the best. I hope to see more from you in the future.
Best wishes,

I'm writing presently as a form of appology. I want to appologize for being so distant, and for not having viewed your work in some time (though the only thing that you could likely have noticed was that I haven't commented). The reason for that is because, though I do intend to review the entire gallery of everyone I'm watching, I'm presently working on my main account, which has over 430 people. I'm slowly reaching my goal, but it doesn't help me when someone of those I'm watching have over 200 deviations (one person has close to 600; I think I'll save him for last ). Anyway, I'm sorry for being such a lowsy watcher, but I want you to know that I haven't forgotten about you and your work.
With any luck, you will hear from me in the near future.
Best wishes,
Jon

oi! yes, you have previously been interested in my Children series... well, I just posted the rest of it. That's right, that specific plot line is done! Anyway, no one is commenting, so I thought I'd alert everyone who has enjoyed the previous parts. I want comments so that I can make corrections and post it all at once. Anyway, Be well!

Once again, I have to thank you for the critiques on Prostitute Confession Stand. As much as it's nice to be praised, it's good to have someone who'll take their time and effort and exert towards thinking of bad things about it, rather than good things. I plan on going through everything and editing it eventually, so I'm keeping all of your comments to hold onto for now. Then I can go through and polish it up. So thanks so much.
You want to read more of my stuff, eh? Glad to hear that what you've read already hasn't completely turned you away.
If you'd like, you could go through "Two-Dimensional Self" or "The Taste of Melancholy - Revised". I'd appreciate it.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the comment of The Dysfunctional Conversationalist. I'm SO glad you pointed those things out. I never notice tiny errors like that, it's like having your very own wonderful proof reader!
Considering I wrote that piece about 4 years ago I have to confess that it's one of my pieces of writing that I'm most content with, although I'm still not 100% happy with its conclusion. I'm rubbish at endings!
Anyway, must go, but have you seen the new bevelled-edge assignment. I'm having a lovely time seeing where my imagination takes me with that one!
